Tower of Druaga 2

"Because of a blunder during his first battle, Neeba is forced to fire Jil from the group. Though disheartened by the humiliating dismissal, his desire to conquer the evil deity does not wane. As Jil wanders the city of Meskia which is filled with anticipation for the third season of expedition to the Tower, he meets a mysterious girl named Kaaya and a close-mouthed young woman called Ahmey. When Jil learns of the great hero King Gilgamesh's visit to the city, he takes his new friends to watch the procession. There he accidentally comes upon the figure of Neeba in the bustling crowd."

Well as many of us suspected, the first episode of Tower of Druaga wasn't a good measure on what the rest of the series will be like. The rest of the series will most likely be like this second episode was- more serious and action oriented. Not that that's a bad thing, mind you. Even though the tone of the series has changed, I'm still finding myself enjoying it. Jil's new personality here of being a weak kid takes a bit of getting used to when compared to the first episode, but we find out half-way through this one that he has something special about him after all.

We also discover in this week's episode that Fatina will be sporting a different outfit in the opening credits every week. Last time she simply had on her regular battle outfit, but this time around she's wearing a much more revealing track uniform. Fan-service! & for those who might still be reading too much into the opening credits- don't. A lot of us probably thought when watching the first episode that the opening implied that there'd be some kind of dimension-crossing twist to the story, but that's just not the case. The opening was just done that way to be cute & different.

Speaking of, we finally figure out why the characters in the opening credits are different from the ending ones. The reason being is that the show will be focusing on two different groups- Neeba's team, & Jil's new team. Oh, & this ep made it more apparent then ever that the series is based off an old video game. At times it practically screams "we're an RPG!"

Knowing Jil's relationship to Neeba puts his fantasy in the first episode into a different perspective (which I've recently watched once again- loved it), so that's pretty interesting. & with Jil acting more like himself, we do get to see he's a lot more like Judai then we first thought. Which is a good thing. If nothing else, I'm going to be watching the series for Kenn (yes, I miss GX that much). But if this episode has anything to say about the remainder the the series, it should be an interesting ride indeed.
