Death Note on Adult Swim?

Death Note may not be airing in Canada anymore, but it seems like it will be coming to Adult Swim very shortly. AS has updated their online schedule to show that 3 new mystery shows will be added to their lineup starting this October. One is for Monday nights & doesn't seem to be anime related, so we wont focus on that one. The other two will air on Saturday nights.

The first starts October 6 at 11:30 (Eastern/Pacific), a spot that often doesn't show anime on Adult Swim's lineup. So it's hard to say if that'll be anime or not. But the last mystery show is the real kicker. Taking over Bleach's timeslot starting October 20 at Midnight, while the title is blacked-out like the rest, theOtaku has shown some evidence to strongly suggest that this new title is none other than Death Note. Viz has expressed interest in the past about Death Note being on Adult Swim, so it shouldn't be too much of a surprise. But we'll still have to wait a bit longer to know for sure.

This also suggests that Bleach will be taking a break from the AS lineup & stop at episode 52 (they could've at least finished the Soul Society saga like we did on NebsTV since they're so close). New episodes will probably resume once Death Note finishes its run on the action block in early 2008. Frankly I'm quite surprised that they're giving Bleach this break. I thought they'd give it the Naruto treatment & show new episodes all year round with no real breaks, but there you go.
