Otakon seems dead set on licensing NebsTV shows, it seems. First ADV licensed the
King of Bandit Jing OVA, & now this. FUNimation held their panel today as well, & they announced the news that fans have been dying to hear for months now. FUNi officially announced their licensing of the mega-popular "Ouran High School Host Club," which is currently airing on our site. Ouran Host Club was one of Japan's most popular anime of 2006, right next to "the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" (& both series also star a girl named Haruhi at that). Since we're getting close to finishing the series, we'll continue to show Ouran until it's over, so no worries.
While Ouran may be FUNimation's biggest news of the panel (& probably the biggest news of the convention), they did have another title to announce as well. "Sasami: Magical Girl Club" is sort of a spin-off to the Tenchi Muyo series that stars the cute Sasami as a magical girl (again). It's not really related to any of the other Tenchi series, but is still part of the Tenchi Family. Since FUNi has taken over the Tenchi franchise (what with their past licenses of GXP & the final OVA series), it shouldn't come as too much of a surpise. Both Sasami & Ouran are scheduled to hit American DVDs in 2008.
