Anime Expo: Bandai

Bandai Entertainment announcent a number of anime series at Anime Expo this past weekend. First up is the 3 "Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: A New Translation" movies. While a DVD release is still in the works, they will have an (extremely) limited theatrical release. The movies will be at the Chicago Internation Film Festival from October 5-19. Since they're right here in my hometown, I'll be attending the films. ^_^

Gundam Seed Destiny on TV was briefly brought up as well. Currently there are no plans for it to air in the US, not surprising considering Gundam Seed's low ratings on Cartoon Network. But the series will be airing on Canada's YTV. On Canadian TV but not in the US, this makes Nebs very angry....

Lots of "Ghost in the Shell" news as well. Both "Stand Alone Complex" OVAs, "The Laughing Man" & "Individual Eleven," as well as the "Solid State Society" movie were all announced as being licensed.

The newest .hack series from Japan, ".hack//Roots," was licensed & is expected to come to US TV sometime this year. A nothing is definite yet, no network was announced. But Cartoon Network, home of the first 2 .hack series, seems like a good bet.

Bandai also briefly brought up Mai Otome, the Mai Hime sequal series. While they're still in negotians to license the series, Bandai's pretty confident that they'll get it soon.

A small tidbit about the Eureka Seven was all the video games from the series will be released in America over time.
