So after I got back from vacation, a lot of stuff was going on IRL. I barely had time to maintain the main site, much less the blog. But now things have settled down a bit, so let's catchup with Saimoe 2011, shall we? When we last left off, Squid Girl was in prime position to crush her opposition. & she did just that, with Elly from "Milky Holmes" also winning her round.
"Strike Witches" took tough loss with favorite Sanya losing to Elsie (World God Only Knows), but such a result was expected. Meanwhile, Last Order (Magical Index) barely managed to beat out Nao (Onii-chan no Koto) by 2 votes. It was expected to be close, but I really thought incest-loving Nao would've been the victor.
Yuno (Hidamari Sketch) becomes only the second character in Saimoe history to make it to Round 2 five times in five attempts. The other of course being my hated arch-nemesis, Nanoha. & her run wont stop here either, as she was able to beat both the popular Stocking (Panty & Stocking), as well as Tsugiko from the popular "Milky Holmes." Run also won her match, as was expected, beating out the loveable Menma (Anohana).
Two very big favorites of mine competed the next day in different groups, however "Madoka Magica" girls also competed in both groups, making their victory almost assured. My first favorite was Uiharu from "Magical Index," who not only had the misfortune of competed against Sayaka, but also her fellow co-star Saten-san, who was the top performing "Railgun" girl from last year (god knows why). So a split-vote on top of the "Madoka" factor pretty much guaranteed Sayaka a crushing win, which she did indeed get. As did her fellow Puella Magi Mami, who won in the other group & defeated my beloved Mikan (To Love-ru), & to a lesser extent, my favorite "Sora no Otoshimono" girl Nymph.
Luckily things looked better for me the next day, as my beloved Yoshika Miyafuji (Strike Witches) won her match & beat Yuuno from "MM!" Charles from "IS" was the other winner of the day, though Minami (Baka & Test) definitely performed better than expected.
This was one tough day as three powerhouse series (other than Madoka Magica) competed against each other. In a close match, Ayumi (World God Only Knows) managed to beat out both Nohohon-san (Infinite Stratos) & Yukikaze (Dog Days). In the other group, Nano- the best chance that "Nichijou" had of winning- lost to Yuuko of "A Channel."
The unassuming Haqua Du Lot Herminium (World God Only Knows) continues to defeat opponents she has no right to defeat & drawing much anger from people like me. First she defeats 2010 champion Azunyan in Round 1, & here in Round 2 she somehow defeats the loveable Ohana (Hanasaku Iroha), assumed by many to be one of the few who could possibly take down the "Madoka Magica" girls. On the other side, "Aria" continues to do better than expected as Shirayuki defeats Cecilia (Infinite Stratos).
Poor adorable Index (Magical Index) gets screwed by the random draw once again as she faces off against potential 2011 champion & my favorite to win it all Kirino (Oreimo), but at least this year she made it to Round 2! Wait a minute... KIRINO LOSES?!?! RAAAAAGE!!!! Oh, & Houki (Infinite Stratos) won too. Whatever. >_>
To help heal the pain from the day before, titular star Aria soundly wins against Haruna (Zombie desu ka). I now want Aria to win it all just to avenge her fallen tsundere sisters! The other match was an extremely close victory of Haruka (Amagami SS) over the adorable Yui (Angel Beats).
Thank god the cute loli Asuha (Astarotte) won her second match, as the odds were stacked in favor of the, umm, more stacked Ikaros (Sora no Otoshimono). But any hope of Ayase (Oreimo) avenging the fallen Kirino were squashed by Kokoro (Milky Holmes).
The final day of Round 2 shows that all is not lost for "Oreimo" fans, as Kuroneko easily defeats her opponents. Although I'm happy there is still someone left from "Oreimo" to avenge my beloved Kirino, I was still sad to see my other beloved, Kuroko (Magical Index) lose. Meanwhile, Kyouko (Madoka Magica) had no problem beating out Charlotte E Yeager, proving that "Strike Witches" fell a lot during Round 2.
