Hulu Streams Japanese Digimon Tamers
Hulu & Toei Animation surprised us today by uploading the complete uncut subtitled version of Digimon Tamers, the third season of the series & largely considered the best by fans of the franchise. This is the first time that the Japanese version of Tamers has been made officially available anywhere.
It's been two & a half years since Toei began releasing the Japanese version of Digimon 02, the second season of the series & until just now the only one to get the subtitled Japanese treatment. It may have taken awhile, but Toei has shown us that they're still interested in giving us the original version of Digimon. Perhaps in another year or two we'll get Frontier, the fourth season. Sadly, for whatever reason, the first season seems to be an impossibility at this time.
A few other notes. As of right now Tamers is only up on Hulu, & not some of the other sites that 02 is up on, such as Crunchyroll & FUNimation. It's also worth mentioning that as of this writing, Hulu is missing a few episodes, as only 43 of the 51 episodes are up. I'm sure this'll be be fixed soon though, as I'm sure Toei subbed all of them. I've also verified that these episodes are indeed uncut, as I checked on a potentially controversial sequence that Toei might have felt the need to edit (Disney sure did, though they too missed one occurrence of it during the original Fox Kids broadcast). But as it turned out it was left intact (long time Tamers fans will likely know what I'm referring to).
Finally, it's worth noting that Tamers wasn't the only new series Toei Animation added today, as the complete series for Gaiking has also been added. But enough of that, watch some legal Japanese Tamers:
