The Westboro Baptist Church were among the visitors to Comic-Con this weekend, but they weren't there to attend panels or buy merch in the dealer's room. Rather, they came to protest the event & save the sinners who attend it. They believe geeks & comic fans are wasting their lives by devoting such time to something that isn't related to religion, & are doomed to burn in hell for worshiping the figures in their comics as false gods.
However, what they didn't expect was to be met by a counter-protest group of superheroes, robots, magical anime girls, Trekkies, & Jedi. Comic-Con attendees had gathered together & made their own protest signs that said things like "All Glory to the Hypno-Toad," "God Hates Jedi" (held by a Trekkie), "Satan's Cake is a lie," & "Magnets: How the #?*! do they work???" They also chanted things like "Jesus Loves Comics!" & "What do we want?! Gay sex! When do we want it?! Now!"
