Bandai Gets More Code Geass Manga

Feb 25, 2010 22:51

Recently, Bandai Entertainment launched a brand new manga website dedicated solely to their growing list of manga releases. Considering their main anime site barely gets updated anymore, it sure is telling as to where their focus might be shifting to. After all, Bandai's been met with surprising success with their manga titles, while their anime department has been hurting bad for over a year now. The key to Bandai's manga success though is releasing titles of anime series that already have a strong presence in the US, rather than a manga with no anime & therefor less word of mouth going around. Their manga titles consists of popular franchises such as Lucky Star, Witchblade, Eureka Seven, Gurren Lagann, Gundam, & Code Geass.

Well fresh off the heals of their new site comes the announcement that Bandai has added two more Code Geass manga series to their list- Code Geass Knights & Code Geass Queens. These are of course in addition to the three Geass titles Bandai already releases- Lelouch of the Rebellion, Suzaku of the Counterattack, & Nightmare of Nunnally. Knights is a manga aimed towards female manga readers, with the story focusing on the male characters & having them drawn particularly bishonen-esque (hints of yaoi abound of course). Its first volume will hit American bookstores in May. While Queens is a manga dedicated to male manga readers, with the story focusing on the female characters & having them do particularly ecchi things (with hints of yuri, natch). Its first volume will come out a month later in June. Both versions are five volumes long. Now let's just hope Renya of the Blackness is next!
