James Cameron's much hyped 3D film "Avatar" finally premiered in American theaters today. & now that the famous director has gotten one of his long-awaited dream projects finished, maybe it's time to move onto the next- an
adaptation of the Battle Angel Alita manga. According to an interview he did with MTV, a script that Cameron approves on has already been turned in. Not only that, but about a year's worth of design work has already been completed as well. This is probably what that previously talked about test footage was all about.
However, Cameron is also stating that Battle Angel still might not happen at this current point in time. No casting decisions have been made, & while he's still passionate about the idea, he's uncertain if this will be what he does next. He has previously stated that technology wasn't up to par to make a Battle Angel Alita movie look as good as it deserves. But with all the experimenting & playing around he did with Avatar, it may finally be there:
"The mixture of live-action and CG is a little trickier in 3-D than it is 2-D," Cameron told MTV. "Now we see it's good to have done Avatar first before Battle Angel, because the tricky scenes are where you're blending live-action photography, stereoscopic photography and CG."
"Shooting live stuff in 3-D and then adding CG characters and landscapes beyond that, that's a little tricky," he explained.
