~Nearly twenty years ago I started to work on a Star Trek script. Being a fairly hard core Trekker, I had a pretty good idea of what the fan base wanted, but being a moderately decent story teller and student of The Biz, I knew I needed something that appealed beyond that demo. Trek movies are expensive and the base alone would not fill enough seats.

I realized the key was Spock, who is still to this day a Universal Icon. So I made him the star. Spock could 'fill seats' without Kirk or Picard. And to this day I still have zero doubts that Nimoy could have carried an ST movie.

The idea of me taking a shot at this is not as preposterous as it seems, at least on the face of it.

My younger brother was the second unit cinematographer on Star Trek: First Contact and Star Trek: Insurrection and had become friends with Johnathan Frakes. Seems they're both fond of Porsches. That meant I should have had a not too bad chance to get it to someone who could 'make it happen' if they liked the product.

What I had not yet realized is that such would never ever happen. My step father had never gotten any of his projects off the ground and I would never ever be allowed to surpass him.

I know there were ten thousand hurdles to overcome besides that and the best I could honestly hope for was a 'story by' credit - with a few bucks for that of course. It would have been nice to get a shot at least...

But my brother jerked my around for a while and I gave up. Pretty sure there was some family drama to distract me. There always was.

Anyway...I'd not meant to whine. Hate that. What brought this up was that I still save Black Fleet ship ideas I see on-line. To understand that reference, you'll have to read the below. lol
