Life In The Desert

Feb 05, 2022 09:14

Our pipes are frozen, so no water until mid morning I expect. We both went to bed around midnight/1am, so no 'water activity' and I forgot to dribble my bathroom faucet. /sigh

Fortunately, we have bottled water and filtered reservoirs, so I have some water. [Le-Le's still sleeping]

It gets cold in the desert. Why you see soldiers in the WW2 North African campaign all bundled up in some pix. Blanca, the park manager said it went down to 15° last night. [I checked to see if it was a park wide issue, tho I strongly suspect it was just us]

Made me think of the Kawaiisu, the local Uto-Aztecan peeps, huddled together against this kind of cold in their dwellings in tight family groups back in the day. [a few hundred still live around here]

nebs is annoyed, local news
