Holy freakin poop! this weekend was so fraking awesome!!! it was incinerate weekend at VBC and God moved in ways i've never seen before.
for those of you that dont know, incinerate is like a diciple now weekend, you spend the weekend with families from the church. you stay at thier house, and eat their food, its awesome. its more or less a in-town youth retreat packed with worship, Bible studies, and a lot of random fun stuff. the only thing that you dont get out of it is any sleep at all.
I've only been a member of VBC for about a month now, and they put me totally in charge of all sound for the weekend. that was probably the best expirience with God right there, it was serving, worshiping, obeying God all at once, and at the same time, having to trust that he'd make it all fit together. the sound was a big test of my patience. i'd been going up to the church every day after school to get the sound set up before thursday night when it all kicked off. i show up thursday pretty much expecting to turn on the sound board and start the service. i couldnt have been more wrong. nothing was how i set it, at all. i had to basically recreate over 5 hours of setup in the course of 30 minutes. and the best part was that the service probably couldnt have been better. and as far as stting up sound for the bands that played and stuff like that, the weekend just went down from there, the whole thing was a nightmare. but, God always made sure that when we hit the "go button" that the service went without a hitch, it was utterly amazing.
Rusty, our speaker, was insanely awesome. he really helped me keep my cool at times and really reassured me when i was about ready to give up with all the stuff that happened. other than that, God showed me that i have some major things in my life that i really need to get rid of, and he really convicted me of some things. and it was just an extrordinary experience.
