a mother's day fanmix

This is a collection of songs that I've given to lots of my friends who were new moms over the years. I don't really think you need to be a mom to enjoy them as they aren't the typical songs you would find on a mix for mothers. You could always burn them to a cd and give it to your mom. :)

Happy Mother's Day to the moms on my flist. I hope you all had a nice day. *hugs*

Happy Mother's Day
a collection of not so typical songs for mothers

Teach Your Children ~ Crosby Stills Nash & Young
And you, of tender years,
Can't know the fears that your elders grew by,
And so please help them with your youth,
They seek the truth before they can die.
Teach your children what you believe in.
Make a world that we can live in.

Little Man ~ Liz Queler
Little man sleeping on my shoulder
Soft and warm safe beside my heart
I never dreamed I would someday hold you
But I wished up a sky and I brought down a star
And here you are
And I wonder how you hold my whole wide world in your tiny hand

My Darling Child ~ Sinéad O'Connor
My darling child
My darling baby
My darling child
You gave life to me
You came and saved me
You gave you to me
My pride and joy

Little Star ~ Madonna
God gave a present to me
Made of flesh and bones
My life, my soul
You make my spirit whole
Never forget where you come from
From love
You are a treasure to me
You are my star
You breathe new life
Into my broken heart

For Baby ~ John Denver
I'll walk in the rain by your side,
I'll cling to the warmth in your hand,
I'll do anything to help you understand
I love you more than anybody can.
I'll be there when youre feelin down
to kiss away the tears that you cry,
I'll share with you all the happiness I've found
a reflection of the love in your eyes.

The Day I Let Glory Steer ~ Nerissa & Katryna Nields
She's too old for the playground
She's too young for the graveyard
She's too wise for me to tell her
I've got plans
She loves my CD collection
She's always onto the next one
Beautiful, my little Glory
You'll always be my baby girl
Won't you let me hear your story
Won't you let me into your world?

Delaney Talks To Statues ~ Jimmy Buffett
But she knows I love her so
When I tuck her ‘neath the covers
Father, daughter
Down by the water
Shells sink, dreams float
Life’s good on our boat
She’s growing up too fast for me
And asking lots of questions
Some I know the answers to
And some I’m looking for suggestions

All Babies ~ Sinéad O'Connor
All babies are born saying God's name
All born singing God's name
All babies are flown from the Universe
From there they're lifted by the hands of angels
God gives them the stars to use as ladders

So Lovely ~ Lisa Marie Presley
You know I did something right
Something that keeps me alive
Oh you sweet little babies
When you came you let me know
Oh you take care of mommy too
You're so quick to defend me aren't you
Little man and a lady
So handsome and pretty
Sometimes don't listen to your mamma no
And don't do as I do

This Town Is Wrong ~ Nerissa & Katryna Nields
You've always been a good girl, smart girl, pretty girl,
lucky girl, happy as the day is long
This town has so much at stake in you
They tell you you will go far, a little star, how I wonder what you are

A Perfect Indian ~ Sinéad O'Connor
A Perfect Indian is he
Remembering him life is sweet
Like a weeping willow
His face on my pillow
Comes to me still in my dreams
And there I saw a young baby
A beautiful daughter was she
A face from a painting
Red cheeks and teeth aching
Her eyes like a wild Irish sea

Little Miss Magic ~ Jimmy Buffett
She is my next of kin
I see a little more of me everyday
Little miss magic
what you gonna be
I catch a little more dialog coming my way
I see those big brown eyes just start to looking astray

Seeds ~ Kathy Mattea
And watch the children play
And I wonder if they wonder
What they'll be someday
We're all just seeds
In God's hands
We start the same
But where we land
Is sometimes fertile soil
And sometimes sand

Little Digger ~ Liz Phair
You saw your mother with another guy
You think you'll tell her that she's one of a kind, you say
My Mother is mine
You put your trucks up on the bed next to him
So he can get a better look at them, you say
This ones my favorite one, this one you can't have
I got it from my Dad, you say

Petit Poulet ~ Sinéad O'Connor
Petit poulet (Little chicken)
Tout ca c'est OK (everything is alright)
Maintenant bebe (now baby)
Tout ca c'est OK (everything is alright)

When You Dream ~ Barenaked Ladies
With life just begun, my sleeping new son
has eyes that roll back in his head
They flutter and dart, he slows down his heart
and pictures a world past his bed
what do you dream about?
Do you dream about
music or mathematics
or planets too far for the eye?
Do you dream about
Jesus or quantum mechanics
or angels who sing lullabies?
