I'm typing on a PC right now. I've accepted that PCs are ok at doing boring work.
But I'd like to think I'm smarter than the average user and know how to prevent nasty spyware and such from invading this Work PC.
My computer of choice is the Macintosh. It just doesnt get viruses. I've used a Mac for over 6 years and never really had a problem.
This leads me to this weekend's disaster of a time.
I went to Greensboro to see my parents and spent the entire time in my Dad's office RE-INSTALLING his DELL PC. His computer was in such bad shape from viruses and spyware that he could barely get his computer to turn on!
I admit my Dad isnt that smart when it comes to using his PC but the reality is NO ONE should have to deal with spyware.
So I had to talk to a guy in India about how to reinstall a PC. Dell PCs suck. You gotta do all this crazy stuff like hold down "F2" and then go through all these options using the arrow keys cleaning partitions and a whole bunch of.. well a bunch of shit.
Then you can finally reboot the disk. (Not to mention Friday night we spent the night copying all Dad's important files over).
So we finally get his PC reloaded on Saturday afternoon. Guess what? The Dell PC that he had of course was shipped without all the current drivers, so after his PC is cleaned you gotta put in another CD to load drivers just to make his PC read with his monitor.
I'm talking the PC couldnt even change from 640X480 to 800X600. You need a driver for that. HOly Crap.
I'm sorry but PCs really do suck.
