Week 7 - Wales - Postcard Challenge 2012

This week our postcard challenge adventure takes us to Wales, Gower is probably one of my top two places of solace to visit within the UK so for me there was really no contest as to which part of the beautiful and often ancient Wales countryside I chose. Part of me wanted to use an old photograph of me swimming across the bottomless lake three quarters of the way up mount Cader Idris back in 1985 but I decided against defacing the precious image because I really dont have that many from my childhood and wanted my memories of the week spent up in Snowdonia to remain intact as they are assisted by my precious and rare photo album.
I went for a real postcard image from my own collection instead, it was actually in Wales at age eight that I decided to start collecting them and have over a hundred just from Wales alone, I just love it there, Gower in particular.
I copied the image in black and white then added hand crafted love spoons in because those too, I have fond memories of watching them being carved as a young girl.
Inside the book I had to draw a daffodil, the Welsh flower but also the symbol of hope. I was the guest speaker at a large conference back in 2000, I didnt really want to take the job so asked that they fill the auditorium with daffodils because they are the symbol of hope, the organisers spent a fortune getting daffodils in winter all thread with wires inside the delicate stems so that they could be made into fanciful displays. It all looked amazing.
Our duo this week have sent and received their messages and now moving on to the next part of their mission.
