Heywood Banks even wrote a song for it. I'll admit, I've giggled every time I drive by.
We've had near-tornado-level severe thunderstorms on Monday and Tuesday, throughout the central part of the state. Apparently, a vengeful God took the opportunity for some housecleaning. Or maybe editorial comment. Lightning struck the statue on Monday, and it was engulfed in flames within moments. Tuesday, we had an instant replay of storms, followed by the most brilliant and complete double-rainbow I've seen in my life.
I'll leave y'all to your own interepretation :-)
