I'm in Tennessee. The drive was lame, like you'd think, but the audiobooks I'd downloaded turned out to be reasonably awesome, and I only got lost twice on the way here. Success!
Actually just the one audiobook was awesome. I also listened to The Gospel According to Judas, which I found a little far-fetched. The problem wasn't that the story is basically about Jesus and I'm not a Christian, I mean, I'm willing to accept that part of the story on its own terms. The story is mainly concerned about Judas and his beliefs and doubts, and how he felt about the man he accepted as his religious master, and basically (spoiler!) how he was totally framed for the whole thing. His motivations didn't line up well enough with his actions, and the story ended up tied with a perfect bow, and it was just too implausable for me to consider that it might have happened that way.
The awesome audiobook: Dairy Queen. It's a teen angst story about this teenage girl from Wisconsin, dealing with a messed-up family, and also with this asshole dude she's been saddled with. I mean, ok, if you've ever read a teen angst story ever you basically know exactly what happens now, but I swear this one's way better than the typical teen angst story. Her dad is angry and kind of mean, and mainly because of that both she and her brother (especially her brother) have problems talking in front of anyone, ever. During the story she works hard to learn to consider her own wishes, instead of accepting whatever people tell her. I really enjoyed it.
Apparently Chris is sick! :( He sounded terrible when I spoke to him before. I wish I were there to pet him.
