Let's Check Back In

Still in Idaho. That was for those of you who doubted i could last a week.

-Seriously, now, who the fuck do i think i'm addressing that statement too?! No one reads my fucking blog. There hasn't been even a comment for like over a year. But i blog for the same reason i do just about everything that i do; because i fucking want to. Gosh!-

There's actually been an awful lot of sun in the past 36 hours. Well, not the whole 36 hours straight. I'm in Idaho here, not freakin' Alaska. I've been trying to balance enjoying it with not getting fried to a f*cking crisp. *so pale. so fair-skinned* I predict freckles by summer's end. A swarm of freckles. A seething, teeming host of slightly browned spots that both taunt my pallor and provoke paranoia of cancer (hypochondriac that i am). Eh. i'm over it.

I've added a few movie selections to our NetFlix Queue. lemme see here, i put on...Ghost World (read the graphic novel. LOVED it.), Heavenly Creatures (who doesn't want to watch a film about an obsessive, psychotic lesbian relationship involving Kate Winslet?-or so i hear the plot goes, have not yet seen it myself. But it is a Peter Jackson film and he did manage to pull off that whole LOTR thing), and Welcome to the Dollhouse (apparently a dark comedy. i like those. involving name-calling, outcasts, rape, and basically just life in general for a 7th grader. he he he. seriously. that's like the plot.). Also, at my sister-in-laws prompting, i added the Last Supper (the Cam. Diaz version). Apparently another darkish absurd comedy. I'm sensing a pattern here...

Still reading Valley of the Dolls. That was definitely a choice selection. At about 200 pages in i was stilling searching for the oft-referenced pills. Had not yet seen anyone participating in any activity that could even be twisted in description and misrepresented as substance abuse. The protagonist had been well established as a genuine lady with looks, brains, drive and virginity. The setting was mid-late 40's New York, New York. It took off from there and i always eagerly anticipate stealing away and catching up with the girls and their "dolls". Unfortunately the book is only 500 pp. and i'm at about page 400, but i think i'll have to get over it and move on. I brought 3 novels; Valley of the Dolls, Haunted (chuck palahniuk's latest; a collection of short "horror" stories sewn together....), and Hollywood Wives. I will probably tear through those swiftly, so i'm gonna have to start getting serious about checking out the local library. I haven't really been a library person since becoming a Border's book Slave. Why borrow when i can buy. Ah, well. I'll have to just get over it.
