Not So Much of a Fairy Tale (Chapter 36): The Favor

Feb 20, 2012 20:18

It has been several days since Seohyun started going out and everyone started to notice the sudden glow on her face. Everytime her classmates would ask her the reason for it, her only reply would be an intriguing and meaningful smile. Every day seemed to be more wonderful. So this is how it is to be in love. It gave her an elated feeling… of being free as if she could reach the skies… because with him, she felt like there was never-ending possibilities.

She never realized how Kyuhyun could be such a caring and sweet person. He would pick her up after her part-time job or after school and drove her home. Sometimes, they would linger for a while at the stream or in some other parks. Seohyun’s hands played with the charm that was dangling from her phone. She smiled as she looked at it. It was the other half of a couple phone charms that Kyuhyun bought the other day. The other half was of course, with Kyuhyun. Just then she received a text message.

Seobaby, just wait a little bit, okay? I am still at the airport sending Victoria off. You know that she’s going to China, right?

Okay, Kyu-oppa. Just tell Vic-unnie to have a safe and happy trip for me. I’ll just wait at the University’s cafeteria. Take care!

After replying to Kyuhyun’s message, she went to the cafeteria and ordered a café latte. She took her seat at one of the tables near the window but she made sure that she was facing the doorway so that it would be easier for Kyuhyun to find her.

Minutes later, a beautiful lady entered the cafeteria. All the heads turned to her direction as she ambled inside. Seohyun was suddenly reminded of the queenkas she’d seen during high school because she surely has the face and the aura of being a classic queenka. An air of overflowing charisma and confidence surrounded her presence as she walked forward with her black wavy tresses bouncing behind her back. Based on her clothes and her poise, she looked like she just walked out of a magazine centerfold.

“She looks familiar,” Seohyun thought. “I have already seen her somewhere, I just can’t remember where.” Then it came to her. She saw her on one of the fashion magazines that Yuri brought in their apartment. She’s a famous designer based in Japan… Park Gyuri.

“What is she doing here?” Seohyun asked herself. Why would such a celebrity be here at the campus? She looked like she was looking for someone. She wondered who that could be.

She almost choked on her coffee when she saw her already standing in front of her.

“Can I have a seat?” Gyuri asked her. Still not recovering from the shock, Seohyun merely nodded her head.

“You’re Seohyun, am I right?” She asked her.

Getting more confused, Seohyun answered, a crease forming on her forehead, “Yes I am.”

“Nice to meet you. By the way, I am Park Gyuri-“

“The designer?”

“Yes…” Gyuri said as she stretched her hand in front of her. “But more importantly, I am Cho Kyuhyun’s ex-girlfriend.”

Ex-girlfriend. Did she hear it right? Kyuhyun’s ex-girlfriend. For a moment, she was not able to say anything. She just stared at the hand in front of her. Seohyun scanned her from head to toe and then she looked at herself. She felt so little in front of this woman. Slowly, she reached for her hand half-heartedly.

“W-why are you here?” Seohyun asked her.

“I am here to ask help from you,” Gyuri replied.

“What for?” Seohyun asked. Deep inside her, she could not deny that she started to be a bit unstable, insecure.

“Well, after our breakup, we hardly have any communication. Of course, what can I expect? I hurt him too much. However that breakup was a whirlwind event for us. It just came… out of the blue. There were many things that were never settled between us. This time, I am hoping that somehow I still occupy a little bit space of his heart… enough for him to listen to what I have to say.” Gyuri said.

“What is it exactly that you want me to do?” Seohyun’s voice tightened a bit; a lump was forming on her throat.

“Can I have a favor? Can you make a way for us to talk?”

No. I am sorry I can’t do that.

“Yes, I am actually going to see him later.” Stupid Seohyun, why did you say that? A part of her scolded her decision. Can you not be selfless for once in your life? You are always thinking of others. You should try being selfish. What if she takes Kyuhyun away from you?

Love isn’t supposed to be selfish, she reasoned out. Besides, she saw no harm about them talking with each other. At least, that’s what she believed in.

“How were you able to convince her?” Hara asked Gyuri over the phone. Seohyun excused herself because she called Kyuhyun about the change in their arrangement.

“I told you before. I know what type of girl she is. She is the goody-goody type. A few narrations and good acting here and there and it will be fine. She did not even mention that she is already Kyu’s girlfriend. If she were a different girl, she would be telling me to keep the distance off her boyfriend.” Gyuri told her friend, a sly smile forming on her lips.

Kyuhyun was pacing back and forth along the stream as he waited for Seohyun to arrive. He had a bouquet of roses at hand and every now and then, he would sniff it making certain that it retained its sweet scent. He would also arrange the flowers to ensure that it was as perfect because Seohyun only deserves the best.

“Seohyun-ah,” He showed his usual charming smile at the sight of the girl that he loves however that smile faded away when he saw Seohyun’s cheerless face.

“W-what’s the problem?” he asked.

“Somebody wants to talk with you,” she said.

He looked behind Seohyun and he saw the person that he never thought he would meet again.

“Gyuri…”
