Re-enlistment

Oct 23, 2007 02:22

I chose to do it on top of the mast in Okinawa, since they couldn't get me in a huey like I asked (stupid doodie-head marines) and we had to leave before I could do it on one of the mountains around Sasebo. My re-enlisting officer was our new OPS officer, LT Stevens. He reminds me a lot of my friend Chaz, who I enlisted with the first time, five years ago. We get along well, which isn't something I can say for a lot of the officers on this ship. He treats enlisted people like ... well ... people. Plus he doesn't expect you to call him "Sir" every three words. If there were more people like him running the Navy, it would be a much better place to work. Anyway ...

Discharge

Re-enlistment

A handshake and a dirty feeling inside that will last for the next four years

I'm pretty sure denial and acceptance are in there somewhere. I've hit the former but the latter remains elusive.
