***letter to congressmen or senators to end child sex trafficking***
please leave a comment if you have sent the letter or have e-mailed your elected officials...thank you!

Dear -------------,

I am writing to you as an advocate for those who have no voice.

Recently, "The Oprah Winfrey Show" aired a special presentation on the issue of Child Sexual Trafficking in America and around the world. I learned that this outrage is a $10 billion industry worldwide and the second largest organized crime ring in history.

I urge you and your colleagues to make this issue affecting more than 2 million children around the world and more than 200,000 children in the United States a serious priority.

From putting pressure on those nations who turn a blind eye to this growing problem in their own countries, to helping law enforcement in our own country crack down on perpetrators and bring them to justice... I am asking you to do everything in your power as an elected official to save these innocent children.

While we applaud the passage of The Protect Act of 2003, where the U.S. Congress better equipped the Department of Justice to prosecute U.S. citizens who sexually exploit children overseas, without increased resources it will be difficult to identify and prosecute more than just a small percentage of the perpetrators.

I urge you to pass House Resolution 972-The Trafficking Victims Protection and Reauthorization Act of 2005 and the End Demand Act for Sex Trafficking Act of 2005.

Millions of us who have been made aware of these crimes by watching "The Oprah Winfrey Show" have decided to stand together with one voice and we will not back down until something is done and until progress is made.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
