Took Day Off...

It's been a rough week so far. My persian cat Gypsy had her bladder stones removed on Tuesday. I started work again on Monday, & last night I had to bring Gypsy into the Emergency Vet Clinic. She totally flipped out over the cone/collar she had to wear, & couldn't eat or drink with it on. I took it off so she could eat & take her meds. I put it back on for the day while I worked, & had to get a different one from the vet after work yesterday. It is a softer material, & is meant to be left on for the two weeks until her stitches are removed. Last night I tried carefully putting it on her, & she started growling, swatting with claws, & biting. My hands & arms are a mess, & she refused to cooperate. During the fight, day after surgery, she was laying on her back, & I saw a pool of blood coming out of her urinary tract the size of your hand. It was awful! I thought forsure that her bladder ruptured. I got her in the vet while crying, they checked her out, told me to go home & get the collar so they could put it on her, & did an ultra sound. The vet told me I was probably thinking it was worse than it really was. If her bladder was ruptured she would have been vomitting etc. When I returned the doctor showed me her ultra sound picture & said she was having blood clots. I was so relieved...I thought forsure she would have to be put down after what was pure bright red blood pouring out of her. Now, when she's going pee, there is definite blood in it...Hopefully, she'll recover fine. They told me the visit & exam would be $89, & whatever else after that. My total bill was ONLY $119. I was in shock that it was so cheap. My friend told me ultra sounds are normally hundreds of $. I guess I had the deal of the day, even the lady sitting next to me who brought her dog in for eating something bad made a comment on how amazing that was. What a job though, working with people & their trauma pets, while keeping a calm face & attitude. I can't even believe I drove there in the state I was in. I'm glad it's over. As far as work, I know they don't think too highly over my absence, because it is just a cat, not a person. I called way in advance, & plus there should be a lot of extra help. I'll be back tomorrow. I've got so much work to do at home.
