So, tonight on
The Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert did one of his little spiels on bears. If you watch The Colbert Report, then you know that Stephen often (jokingly... I'd imagine) speaks out against the threat of bears--"godless killing machines"--to the American people. Well, on tonight's show, he apparently decided to take it one step further. He began to quote an article on
The Humane Society's campaign against bear hunting.
My heart nearly stopped. "Oh, shit," I thought to myself. "Oh shit oh shit oh shi--"
And then he played back a recorded (albeit, as with everything on The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, very much edited) phone conversation he'd had with someone from the HSUS--"Mike Mark Carrion" as they wrote on the screen, or, in actuality, Mike Markarian. I FREAKING WORK WITH THIS MAN. When did this happen!? I've been out sick for the past two days, but my God, if this is the kind of stuff I miss, I'm never going to call out sick ever again. Mike Markarian, though I don't know him WELL or anything, doesn't seem like the kind of person with a generous sense of humor, so I can only imagine what his reaction was to Colbert's call.
I don't know whether to laugh or to be embarrassed. Oh man.
