Overall, I don't think I have strong enough opinions to do a full-on review.
Didn't Like:
- Self-referential humor, but they've been doing it since Ep. 1, so I wasn't really expecting them to stop now.
- Occassionally poorly done CGI, mostly relating to CGI versions of characters that were obviously fake.
- Natalie Portman, which is odd, because I thought she was good in Ep. 1. It may just be the character arc this time around; she didn't feel strong anymore, she felt like a plot element.
Liked:
- Moral shades of grey. Really, this is the only movie of the six which I think managed that.
- Most of the CGI. with the exception noted above, it was all the quality one's come to expect from ILM and Co.
- Anakin's arc... overall, I think it really did work
- Plot tidying... with a couple of exceptions, and especially excepting a couple of interpersonal relationships that struck me as the movie equivalent of name dropping ("Oh, you know Character Y, too? I remember when I met them..."), I felt like the cohesive plot of the series made sense.
Overall, I think I liked the arc of Ep 1-3 more than the overall arc of the Matrix movies, but enjoyed the Matrix movies more individually. (On the other hand, I can see myself rewatching Ep 1-3 more than the Matrix flicks... I don't think I can explain that.)
