DIFT - Generation 3 Chandler (conclusion)

Dec 06, 2011 11:09

Right before Thanksgiving I posted and asked everyone to give input for my generation four heir.  I appreciate the feedback that everyone gave me. It helped point me in the direction that (at the time) I was already leaning towards.

I set things up to make Rawan my heiress.  She had an interesting look, had red hair, and had the personality to handle the fourth generation goals.  Once she became a young adult I got her a job in journalism and set her to writing books and doing interviews.

Note that for the fourth generation I'm mixing things up a bit and combining the official generation four with the optional generation 2.5 since they both cover writing.

“The more I find, the more I type, and the more I learn of my parent's lives."

While I was getting Rawan set up, Chandler got old and took a few last trips in order to finish his lifetime want.  He ended up mastering Martial Arts in addition to the required Photography and tomb raiding along the way.  I still really like the WA tomb adventures however I'm not as enamored regarding what it takes to unlock some of the tombs.  I kept sending Chandler to France and he kept getting adventures to take pictures or to go fishing in Egypt rather than the tomb unlocks.  Eventually, I believe, he did end up unlocking 90% of the tombs in the three countries but there were some that would just never come up on the board and without the 'quest' he couldn't make it past the front door.

While Chandler was finishing up his adventures life at home was fairly hectic.  Madeline was growing up and I was trying to get everyone to connect with their various relatives.  I attempted to throw family gatherings the way that I do in Sims 2 but quite often people wouldn't be able to show up, I finally got Chandler the Legendary Host Achievement so that when he threw parties everyone would show up and that made things a bit easier.

Chandler's sisters and their families would come over as would Sun Kim Young and hers.  Mackenzie was married to vampire Sylvester Hemlock and they have three sons - Morris, Elmer and Fred.  Addison and her high school sweetheart turned husband Duane have two daughters - Penny and Courtney.  Sun Kim Young has a son Jamel with her Bridgeport husband and after his death she had another son Lamar with Sylvester's father.  0.o yeah and I think the kudzu I set up in Sims 2 is bad, given the opportunity to hook up completely on their own the way they can in Sims 3 the Kudzu is much scarier.  Especially when you add vampires into the mix.  Vampires don't age the same way human sims do so even though the hood is in it's third generation there are still first generation vampires that are only adults.  When vampires breed they have a good chance of producing more vampires that have funky aging.  Generation four will be my last generation in this incarnation of Bridgeport mainly due to vampire overpopulation.

And so things in the Reynolds household were moving along well if hectically when surprise! last minute baby was announced.  And that put a whole new spin on things for me.

When Marcel came along Chandler was in his eighties and Paulette was just hours from eldering.  Given the fact that 8+ sims in a household was making my ability to concentrate on Rawan's goals a bit difficult I started considering Marcel for heirship.  My primary reasons were - I'd had the eldest be heir twice and I wanted to break that cycle, I wasn't really feeling Rawan and was having difficulties focusing on her with so many in the house, Marcel was adorable.  If I was doing it from a storytelling perspective I'd turn the "my parent's told me wonderful stories and made me want to know more" part of the G4 DIFT into "I never knew my parents but what I knew of them made me want to learn more."

I kept Rawan in the house and kept working on her goals but I was moving more towards Marcel as the true heir.

Chandler's official death occurred two days after Marcel became a child.  I say 'official' because he was supposed to die the day Marcel became a child but he kept pulling out a death flower that I had hidden in a chest and Grim kept going away and then I'd age Chandler back up to death day and he'd pull out the flower again.  I finally hunted down the flower and deleted it.  Sorry Chandler, I liked you but I didn't want to keep you around for another 20+ days when I'd already accomplished what I wanted to with you and when your death at the right time would give me a segue into the next generation.

With the exception of Rawan and Madeline I moved the other kids out of the house soon after they became young adults.  Juliette and Florence took their kitten Mittens to an apartment in the city.  Since moving out Juliette has been having an on again off again seemingly volatile relationship with second cousin Latonia Striker (daughter of Rafael's brother) and the two women have a daughter, Joanne, who lives with Latonia.  Florence has been in several relationships but hasn't really settled down with anyone.

Mulan wants a large family so I kept her and Liang in the house until I was able to secure her marriage to prom date Conor and confirmed her first pregnancy.  They currently have three daughters.  While I was waiting to move them out I got to play around a bit with Liang and Ghost hunting which seems pretty dang awesome and I'm looking forward to the generation that I get to play with it more.  Liang is now married to a vampire and they recently have had a son.

I haven't said much about Paulette, basically she annoyed me and was useless.  She spent her days playing on the waterslide and bouncing on the trampoline.  With the exception of Madeline she had almost no relationship with any of the kids.   Her death gave Marcel a chance to yell at Grimmy which was kinda of fun to see,

Since Paulette died soon after Marcel became a teen I decided that Madeline would stick around the house awhile.  She'd feel an obligation to her younger full brother.  While we all waited for Marcel to mature a bit Madeline suprised man-maid Kip with a pregnancy announcement and the two were soon married.  About the same time Rawan finally settled on fish face, oops I mean Tory to marry.  And the house was filling up again quickly.

Tory brought his teen-aged daughter, Anastasia with him when he and Rawan married.  Ana gave me a real hatred for grounding.  She came to the house failing in school but wanting to increase her grades.  She kept being grounded for having bad grades which put her in a rotten mood and she'd get in trouble for sneaking out of the house to go to school!  It got to the point where as soon as she was grounded I'd nuke the grounded moodlet so that she could at least go to school and try to improve her grades.  They never got great but she graduated with a C.

Madeline and Kip have a son, Tobias and a daughter Eva.

Rawan and Tory had a daughter Hope and recently added to their household twins named Gustavo and Christa.

As for Marcel, I decided to give in and do the optional imaginary friend generation for him.  With the parental deaths and all of the siblings moving in and out Marcel would have one constant in his life - Riley, his imaginary friend turned real.   So we can end generation three with the knowledge that the generation four heir, Marcel, was happily married two days following high school graduation.  The house has been emptied with his sisters and their families moving out and they are awaiting the birth of the first generation five potential heir.
