an update
ok since a certain someone nudged me for an update... here goes.
work is going fairly well, the first couple of weeks after orientation were pretty hairy. i had some crappy assignments that were really too much for me to handle because they were too much for a very "seasoned" nurse to handle. It was a very sucky 3 day assignment. one patient coughed up a loogey the size of a quarter and it flew across the room and splattered on the door. oh, did i mention that the loogey was a ginormous blood clot? yeah it was pretty gross, imressive, but gross. so the other patient i had i kept waiting for him to become septic at any moment. the NP wanted the foley changed out. um, ok but he has a UTI... so lets go in there and stir all the bacteria and toxins up shall we. Well guess what......the foley was changed on night shift and about 30 mins later the dudes blood pressure dropped. YAY!!! and they wanted me to do lots of chest physiotherapy.........ok great but the old guy cant cough..........what the hell good am i doing by loosening it up if he cant cough it up.... so i had to harrass the RT into doing a nasotracheal suctioning. not a very pleasant thing for the old guy to go thru, but we had to get the lung cheese out.
still got a wee bit of an "interest" in a couple of peeps at work. one moreso than the other...... no idea whats gonna happen there though.
