We've been worried about the Schmoo for a little while now... he's been having stomach issues and hasn't been as "friendly" as his usual self for a few months now. Normally he'd jump up on the cat tower during the day and up on the bed in the evenings. He hasn't done either of those much in the past few months. We (and the vet) figured it was an arthritis and age. He is, after all, 15 years old this month.
Well, he's got a lump on his head that has been there for the past week. I thought he might have smacked it hard on something, but it didn't go down, so I took him to the vet for cytology. Turns out that Schmoo has Lymphoma. We do not know how advanced the cancer is yet, so we're having another test run. It may be curable (or at least able to get it to recede) for a time, but I'm sure the treatments will wreck havoc on his system, depending on how severe it is. We can't make any calls on treatment until we know more.
I'll post more when I know more... but just wanted to share. Think of the Schmoo.
