Having halfway gotten over my sinus infection, I accompanied my friend Paul and pal to the Rush concert at Walnut Creek Amphitheater, and it was awesome. I first saw Rush 17 years ago on the Presto tour. I was expecting to be impressed last night just as I was back then, and they didn't disappoint. While Geddy's voice took a while to warm-up, once it did things flowed nicely. When the first synth chords of "Subdivisions" sounded the roar of the crowd was amazing. The band takes their music - but not themselves - deadly seriously, and it shows in their mixture of high craft, whimsy, and humble greatness. I've been trying to think of what other bands I might want to see in concert over the next year, but frankly Rush topped my list by far, so anyone else would prboably be a let-down. BTW, Hi, Canada!
