Question: Each author gets to have up to ten stories nominated. How do we keep track of this if an author writes in more than one pairing?

Hmmmm, good question.

In hindsight, how about abandoning this idea? I can't think of an easy way to keep track of it, to be honest. Also whilst it's fairly easy to say to the author 'You've had to DiNozzo/McGee stories nominated in 'Romance' which do you want to go with? It's not as easy to make the choice if it's between pairings.

I agree.... I think it would be too difficult to keep track of...

Yup, now that I think about it... but the maximum of one story in each category should still stand, yes?

I think it would be yet more hard work and the situation isn't going to arise for many, is it?

You know I@ve always fence sat on that point; swaying from 'yes, it should be only one' to 'why not just allow all stories' to go through. The latter is less work and also, maybe, fairer to both nominator and author? Maybe we actually should just let all nominated stories go through. If people are going to the trouble of nominating stories and then find out that the story they nominated hasn't gone through, they might be a tad peeved. Just a thought.

And one thought has just come to mind on the subject. With the 'other pairings' section being a 'catch all' we could easily have a writer who writes Gibbs/McGee and Gibbs/Fornell and different people nominate both stories, but in the same category - is it then right to make the author choose as it's two totally different pairings?

I have no idea how many nominations we're going to get at all - it'll be exciting to find out :)

It was a rule that was on several other Awards in other fandoms, and I thought it to be a good idea to keep the number of fics down somewhat. But who knows, maybe it's not such a good idea.

As for the "other pairings" section, I think the rule shouldn't apply to that section either way. As you say, those stories can probably vary greatly in pairings.

Hmmm...

It will be exciting, yes.

May I suggest that as this is the first year and as it's a learning curve for all of us that we don't have that rule in? We can always add it next time. Let's see how this year goes. After all it may not even crop up, or just a few times. But if it cropped up twenty times, that's a lot of extra work.

Indeed.

Hmmmms, with you.
