Season One Poll

Feb 22, 2009 19:48

Well, I thought I should actually do something for this comm, so to that end here's a poll (my first ever, so I hope it works!) of Season One gestures and headslaps. Hopefully, it will kick off some discussion.

To refresh memories (cus I know mine sucks!), there are some viewing resources

1. an album of caps for each moment (details are under ( Read more... )

This was really tricky but good fun ( ... )

It was tricky! I had a hard time myself on some of them. Esp. #2 - neither are actually favourites per se, but I wanted to keep it open for non-G/T people.

Yes, it was a hard choice in #3 I love the crumb brushing too. I didn't know that about Princess Margaret. You make a good Ducky! *g*

5. It came down to the Cary Grant and the coffee for me, and you're spot on about the reason for it being least well deserved. Also, that moment was all about Ari and Gibbs was so angry and wound up. He would have let it go under other circumstances.

I thought your comment about Tony's lack of reaction to the slap in 'The Curse' was interesting. I noticed the same thing.

Obviously this was the first slap we ever see in the show and perhaps they didn't quite know which way the slaps were going to head or even if it would just be a one off. But as for the character's reaction - stunned or well-deserved could easily explain it.

I wondered whether it might be because the only other person to witness it was the other TAD agent. Maybe Tony was embarrased and didn't want to make a big deal, or perhaps he didn't need to put on a show like he sometimes does when he's slapped in front of his fellow team mates.

Very interesting.

Yes - it could be the presence of the TAD agent. Although in later eps Tony reacts quite a lot even when it's just him and Gibbs and nobody else is there. I really do think it's because it's the first time it happened - maybe MW wasn't expecting it *g*. I rather like the non-reaction - it makes it seem like he's really used to it rather than it being an *actual* first time. And boy does he go out of his way to get this one - the cracks about Gibbs's eyesight seem almost calculated because Tony *wants* this kind of reaction from Gibbs *g*.

I have to say also, that the S1 headslaps seem qutie hard in places. Later on they don't seem to *crack* with such force *g*.

Also, they film these scenes dozens of times - so the number of *actual* slaps MW has received, compared to Tony, must be really high. Poor lamb!

I think I read somthing about him not expecting that first one, but he might have meant a rehearsal.

I do like the former idea though *g*

Yes, they are more cracking in S1 LOL! And it must get painful after so many in rehearsal!

They do seem harder in season one, but I think the hardest head slap of all time was the one after Tony had been caught tearing up McGee's calendar - it really knocked him forward!

I can't remember that one! What season and ep was it?

Hmm. I'm sure it was season three - near the end. Possibly Bloodbath? Tony is ripping up McGee's calendar and mocking the quotes on it. McGee tells him it was a gift, Tony asks who it was from and of course Gibbs steps into view... He waits for McGee to report and then just as Tony thinks he's off the hook, Gibbs whacks him. Hard. Tony's eyes flick to McGee, who smirks.

That sounds familiar - I can see it in my mind's eye! Thank you!

I saw a vid where he mentions it, last night. It's too bad really. Is it possible that headslapping would do that? I guess with repeats in rehearsals, the blows would mount up.

Yeah - I just made a comment about that. They film scenes over and over again so he's taken an enormous amount of slaps. I doubt that would cause the hair loss though! If anything, it would stimulate blood supply to the head and slow it down! I suspect he's just losing his hair and wants something to blame. It is funny he's losing it *there* though *g*.

Perhaps Gibbs could make a couple of cracks about Tony losing his hair and Tony could slap him instead... maybe not *checks over shoulder*

Mind you, it would be a nice full circle ending to the slaps.

LOL! Started with the eyes going and ends with the hair going! Hee!

I'd like it if there was a comment about them instead of them just stopping. Sigh.

And yeah, it would be fun if Tony slapped Gibbs. "Bounce" would have been a good opportunity for that *g*.

It wouldn't be too hard to work mention it into scripts on the odd occasion - even just Tony looking like he expected ones that don't eventuate would be nice.

That was my initial thought too.

I can get with your blame theory too! LOL!
