Horsie! Gibbs on a horsie! As usual I am ridiculously shallow and willing to overlook much in favour of the pretty. But actually, I enjoyed it. Though the horsie helped *g*
I absolutely do not get Macy's death - ok, I get it in so far as the Gibbs/Mexico link but it's a little too convenient that the rape victim's ship happened to come back to the US, happened to come back at just the right time and that Macy happened to be investingating and willing to follow her back home. Am I missing the bleedin' obvious somewhere? Even if the rape was somehow set up there was no way to know Macy would follow the victim back to the States *scratches head* Is it supposed to be one of those things the audience just handwaves away?
I agree there were times it was a little slow but the 'big' scenes were so good I'm happy to ignore this. I still don't see how it's gonna get 'fixed' in anything approaching a satisfactory (to me) way but so far I can admit they've done a much better job than I was expecting/fearing.
Do you think Franks escaped - and killed Bell - or was captured? Part of me thinks captured so he & family can be used for leverage against Gibbs to make him do something but I'm not sure. I also wonder just what Vance knows - he would surely have read Gibbs' file (we know he had it in Deliverance) and while he may not know him like Ducky does, it doesn't take much to figure out what he would have done.
I didn't mind Abby trying to get him to talk so much - it's understandable and she wasn't at least sitting around brooding, she was still following evidence and doing her job. Until she locked them her lab she'd allowed herself to be redirected back to the case without too much fuss. And I can't believe I'm defending a character who has spent much of the last couple of seasons driving me up the wall and back *g*
Horsie! *pets the pretty pony*
Have you watched the trailer? It answers a couple of questions... Anyway. It's flawed but as I said above it's better than I was expecting and the acting is so good I can overlook some of the stupid bits. Plus, Gibbs on horseback=good and me=shallow. There's more I want to say but the old brain is not yet firing on all cylinders...
You shallow thing, you *g* I did think of you when we saw Gibbs on horsie.
As you know I didn't get Macy's death before I saw it, and I don't get it even after seeing it. Other than the whole 'oooh, maybe they haven't realised a) it's MEXICO and b) it's tied in with S&K's deaths, maybe they missed who Hernadez was. *Hand waves madly* Oh, yes. We are meant to do that thing, definitely. So Macy took 'personal time' to go back to the US to track down a rapist - right . . . Now murdered PO or even brutally raped and beaten, I could buy, but as it was I found it difficult. And I'm not, as I'm sure you know, lessening rape at all, but it was somewhat flimsy that Macy would do that, I felt.
I felt they did very little at all in this episode, except for the final few seconds. Other than that it was a filler for me :-( So not better than expecting, not at all. I expected developments. We really got none for 41 minutes and then a major one in the last few seconds.
I think Franks escaped, actually. I don't think he killed Bell, but he may have done. I think he got D-i-L and granddaughter to safety and he's 'on the run' ready to back Gibbs up. But your scenario works well too. I thought it was fascinating that Vance was outside interrogation when Gibbs smashed the guy into the glass, yet he didn't say anything. I would think Vance may be putting the pieces together, yes.
Had she started with 'I know we've got this case, once it's over we have to talk', I'd have been fine. The fact she started with in effect 'we have to talk' and to hell with the case was what irked me. *Grins*
I have indeed - and after I posted this with my 'daughter/son of Hernandez idea. I must have had very high expectations for this week, as it failed to deliver on them *sighs*
*iz proudly shallow* Seriously, stick a pretty guy on a pretty pony and I'm happy. Also the American style of riding is so much hotter more relaxed to look at than ours. Let's just say it pushes an awful lot of buttons.... :D
I like generale_kenobi 's theory of using Macy's investigation as a crime of opportunity, but it's still far too convenient for words. I don't mind handwaving on occasion but I object to it if the writers actually have that in mind all along. Lazy.
I suppose the title should have given it away a little; ELL going on about Bell being a 'patriot' = Patriot Down. Though I was assuming that referred to Macy all the way through. Franks will be in it next week though, yes?
That scene in interrogation was fascinating for Vance's non-reaction. He *must* know something, surely?
I'm still nervous over next week - mainly because I don't want them to screw my show up any more than they already have *g* But I admit I am intrigued, far more than i though I would be.
I'm sure the rape wasn't set up, but it really needed a far better reason to bring Macy back to the US, IMO. It was very lazy indeed - it was padding pure and simple. They want a two-parter, so they had to push a case into an episode than in all honesty didn't need one, as they had the Macy dead case.
I tend to tune her out somewhat, so it wasn't until this episode that I 'heard' the 'Patriot' bit. I confess I thought that was referring to Franks. I'm guessing he will be, yes.
Indeed. He just stood there and watched Gibbs in effect go way over-board and he said/did zilch. Hmmmm, a twist would be Vance is somehow involved . . . But that's taking it too far, I feel.
I sincerely doubt the ending will be as shocking as SB thinks it will be. I have no blinkers when it comes to Gibbs 'getting off' and to be honest I can't say I'll be fusses how it's done. After all we've known Gibbs did it for four years and have accepted it, so I can't see why that's going to change in whatever they do. That's how I feel about it. I just want next week to be over, to be honest. Get it out of the way and see what the 'shock' is. I would LOVE to be shocked, really I would. I would love another ending like this week's, but somehow I doubt we'll get it.
I kinda feel sorry for LL; first her character gets dumped from the new shiny and then 12months later she gets killed without getting to make another appearance. I'd have rather they physically brought her back & had on screen before killing her off. At least that way we'd have had slightly more of a connection with her and it might have made slightly more sense. I stress the word 'slightly' *g*.
I also tend to tune her out, though this week I kept being drawn to her face which doesn't seem to move at all. Weird. Please can she end up dead at the end? Pretty please?
I hope he's not involved & I don't think he is; I like him a little grey without being out and out dodgy. Speaking of dodgy, apparently Kort is in the LA finale *is jealous*. I'm still holding out for an ep with Fornell & Kort - more than we got in Internal Affairs. The snark overload would be made of awesome :)
You're probably right but I'm holding out a little hope - if it comes down to him quitting as the trailer seemed to imply I'll be very pissed off. Been there, done that thank you. For me the change will be in the team knowing what he did; I have no problem knowing it as the audience, but he looks ever so slightly hypocritical going after killers etc with his team knowing what he's done. Given how utterly useless they've been with dealing with the Ziva/Rivkin mess I don't hold out much hope for how they'll sort this out. Shock me baby, shock me!
Yes! Actually bringing her back even for a moment or two really would have helped. As it was there wasn't any connection. It would have made 'slightly' more sense *Nods*
*Grins* Her face really doesn't move well at all, I'd noticed that. I hope so, I do hope so. She's evil. *Vibes for her death*
I too hope Vance isn't involved. I saw and I too was jealous *pouts* Oh, yes, a G-F-K ep would be wonderful. *Makes puppy dog eyes*
Hope is good. All I can say is if he does then quit! Walk away for good. Move out of the country. Go. Let all the talk by him and DMc of S8 be just a red herring. Really go. Not that I can see how it can go on without him, but at least it would be a surprise. Ah, I see where you're coming from. Shock would be darn good. Yeah, right. *Eyes flock of flying pigs outside window*
Ah but who needs sense when there's Gibbs on a horse? *is distracted again*
A G-F-K ep would make my day *nods*. Plus the writers should be trying to make it up to us after a season of ELL. I might even watch the last LA ep just for TK.
I would think with the official renewal that there is no way MH isn't coming back. Othewise potentially they'd have a series with just Ducky, Vance, Ziva & Jimmy.
I knew there was something else... Isn't Daddy David supposed to be coming back? I now have a horrid feeling he's got something to do with it all in which case I may be exceedingly cranky this time next week.
And talking of David, did you see Aussiello? He swear the NCIS questions and his comments were from last year as they talk about Cote returning and Ziva being tortured????
Heck no is right. There's nothing on MN's imdb page to say he's in it & I hope to God that's true. If he has *anything* to do with it they're gonna have to be exceedingly creative to make me come back next season. Frankly even then I don't think I could stomach it.
What's this about Aussiello? I don't see anything recent about NCIS on his page *is confuzzled*
It was yesterday - now maybe he posted the wrong thing. I'm sure I wasn't hallucinating. I know I'd been up for 14 hours when I read it, but . . . I was still doing well on Bookworm, so . . .
Question: I just finished watching the NCIS finale. Will Ziva be back next season? Please say yes! --Bethany Ausiello: Yes, Cote de Pablo will be back next season. But she'll be a changed woman. ( Link)
I only have one question about the NCIS finale: Is Cote de Pablo returning to the show next season? - B.C. MATT: Why, did it look like Ziva was on death's doorstep in that secretly filmed torture scene? If so, think back to what NCIS boss Shane Brennan said about that grim cliff-hanger: Come September, "all will be revealed and you will be surprised. It will come at you from left field." (But, in a word: Yes. Sources whisper to me that Cote will be back.) Bonus buzzlet: Season 6 arrives on DVD Aug. 25! ( Link)
And not us, but . . .
Question: Please tell me CBS is picking up the NCIS spin-off. I liked it a lot, but leaving a cliffhanger like that for a show that hasn't officially been picked up is cruel! --Angel Ausiello: CBS is picking up the NCIS spin-off. Feel better? ( Link)
Nope, you have not gone madder & started hallucinating but yes these are definitely last yr.
Also I have a very strange desire to watch Legend right now... The Gibbs & McGee in LA bits, *not* the Mossad clusterf*ck bits. I shall blame Ofsted reports. And possibly you. Hopefully the urge will have gone by the time I get back later...

Mine too! And I honestly wouldn't mind if it was totally light on all the others, not one bit.
