Tribes was the ep that almost got me kicked out of the living room because I was sitting there chanting under my breath, "Ducky, pick up the damn phone and call Alexx!"

They have done a few eps where alternative autopsies had to be done, and thus Alexx could have saved Ducky so much angst and aggravation.

I also wanted to Gibbs-smack Gibbs for being so obstinate and obtuse.

Wonderful story.

Ah, it was CSI. Someone was saying that she knew she'd seen a virtual autopsy in a show and had, at first, thought it was a previous ep of NCIS.

I got scared there for a second. Thought Gibbs got our of bed to leave. But no, of course he would pick Ducky to lay in his arms as long as they live.

It worked - I am glad.

It was my intention, if possible, to keep the reader waiting until the last possible line to know for sure what Gibbs was going to do. (Which is not that easy to achieve given my penchant for 'happy ever afters').

Indeed he would always choose Ducky - he just sometimes needs an extra prod to do that thing.
