Jethro suddenly awakened.
Ducky had moved from their bed.
“You okay Duck?” he said groggily.
“I am so sorry to have awakened you my dear. I was a bit peckish and thought that I would go downstairs for a bite.”
“K”
Gibbs thought briefly about joining his lover for a midnight snack, but sleep soon over took him.
A short time later the gray-haired agent reached his arm out to the other side of the bed…
Ducky was still not there.
“Duck?” he said fuzzily. And opened one eye slightly.
The full moon shone brightly on the window seat across the room, upon which sat a fully grown snow leopard, casually licking its paws.
The large cat looked up, and intelligently regarded the gray haired agent with bright blue eyes. After a few seconds, it resumed its grooming.
Gibbs closed his eyes tightly and shook his head. This must be a bad dream, he thought.
None the less, he quickly rolled out of bed, onto the floor, his hand searching for his SIG.
“Having a bad dream, my dear?” said a voice from across the room.
Gibbs glanced up and saw Ducky sitting on the window seat, a slightly bemused look on his face.
“Yeah, I guess I was.”
“I am cold, let us get us back into bed,” Ducky said as he padded softly across the floor.
The ME climbed under the covers, snuggled up against Gibbs and was quickly asleep.
The gray-haired agent sighed and nuzzled his lover’s silky hair.
Ducky always smelled of balsam and cedar.
But …what was this?
Gibbs reached up and pulled something out from in Ducky’s hair.
He held it up in the full moon light. It was a small twig….
perhaps it wasn’t a dream after all.
