New Mod Post
Hello, I am holdingwonder. The creator of this community, iwantpie, recently passed maintenance over to me. This new mod post serves as a place for questions or suggestions. Simply add a comment to this post and I will reply. For reference, the rules as they were set out originally are here.
I am repeating some information from that post now with a few updates, as a refresher.
FORMAT FOR FIC POSTS
The subject line of a fic post should have the format
Fic: Title (characters) rating, length (e.g., 1/1 or 1/?)
The post itself should have a header outside the lj-cut similar to this form
Title:
Rating: Choose one from (G, PG, PG-13, R) or (K, K+, T, M)
Word Count: (optional, but recommended)
Character(s):
Genre: Drama, humor, etc.
Summary: A short description of the story
Spoilers: If the story references an episode, please list it.
Warnings: Character death, violence, cursing, etc
Disclaimer: A simple one of not claiming ownership.
You may also include an Author's Note if you wish.
Stories are to be linked or put behind an lj-cut, regardless of length.
TAGS
Tags are wonderful things. Use them. In taking over the community, I learned that tags are not visible to the general membership until they are used, so I am tagging this post with those created but unused tags so all the usable tags are visible to everyone. You should see the tags on the sidebar and also there is a list here.
Tag categories are author, character, genre, and rating. Author tags will be created for new authors. Include the character(s) appearing in the fic. Use your own judgement on what genre tag(s) to use. Two systems of ratings are available, as shown in the header form above.
Please comment if you want to request creation of a new tag.
WHAT IS ALLOWED?
This community is for gen fanfiction, so there should be no distinct pairings. Stories should focus on aspects other than a romantic or sexual relationship. Friendship, family, or case-oriented fics are some examples of gen fic. Romantic or sexual relationships can be present as part of the background of the story as long as they are not the focus.
SPOILERS
If your story contains spoilers, you must put a note about it in the header info. Please keep your summaries spoiler-free.
STORY GRAPHICS
Please do not post graphics to the community, unless they are under a cut. Graphics must not exceed 400x400 pixels.
RECOMMENDATION POSTS
The subject line for recommendation posts should begin with the word Recs and contain a short descriptor of the story or stories being rec'd. For example, this descriptor could be the character involved or the type of story.
For tagging, the 'recs' tag should be used. Genre and character tags may also be used, but author tags should not.
The body of the posts should have links to the stories. The title and author should both be listed. A short description should also be given. If the author has posted a summary, you may quote that if you wish.
Self-recs should not be done as the author can make a Fic post and post or link a story that way.
I am planning to hold a prompt-a-thon for the community to encourage more activity here, but information about that will come in another post.
