This is awesome. I really love the way you've hit both Tony's and Peter's characterizations right on the head, and the little snips of Hiro in there-- and Hiro and Peter's budding friendship-- were great as well. Too bad it's already been jossed, because I'd love to see the continuation.
I'm really glad you liked the story, but we've had a, er, serious miscommunication here. Tony isn't talking to Peter. He's talking to Nathan. I know Tony refers to Nathan by last name, which could be confusing, but that's just because Tony wouldn't think of someone he'd just met by their first name.
I didn't seriously screw up Nathan's characterization so badly that he reads like Peter, did I? *concerned*
Dammit. No, no miscommunication there, sorry. I just constantly get Nathan and Peter's names mixed up, for some completely unknown reason. *blushes, hides face in hands*
Oh, whew! *grins* In which case, yay for feedback! :-)
I was a little worried that no one would go for an NCIS/Heroes crossover, but I figured that Heroes is huge enough that there had to be a decent number of people who are into both. *g*
I was surprised at how easy it was to write Nathan, though. He was just there, in my head. I wasn't even nervous about him the way I usually am. I was more worried about Tony's characterization.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the fic! I didn't realize you were an NCIS fan, too. :-)
I love that Hiro was mentioned in there too -- and that Nathan considers him somewhat of a friend. xD
I couldn't resist. *grins* I meant there to be a lot more in there about Hiro, but it didn't work with the conversation, alas. Plus I had to not make it too heavily a Heroes story, since it was written for an NCIS challenge.
And I hope there's more to come in the NCIS/Heroes-verse. xD
I can't make any promises, but given that I have regular ncis_flashfic deadlines that and Heroes wants me to write it, the possibilities are strong. *g*
Conveniently, I believe there is a photo of Nathan somewhere that proves that he was in the Navy once upon a time. *g*
True, but I would love a sequel to see if they save Hiro! They have too!
And here I was assuming that if a sequel ever got written, it would be Tony confessing his powers to Gibbs. *g* I guess my brain assumed that them going to save Hiro would be going further AU than I really needed to. This fic was jossed, but only a bit. Keeping going on that path would make it a complete AU.
The Petrelli for Congress ad NBC made also talks about him in the military, but it doesn't say Navy specifically.
Do we know that that ad is an official NBC production? Because the voice over sounds a little bit amateurish to me. I haven't been sure how much creedence to give the video. Also, if he was Navy, how could he have served in Rwanda?
I don't think you've written anything i haven't enjoyed. :-)
I never would have thought to do a cross over with Heroes. And you did this beautifully. Nothing too fantastic for Tony, like being a fire starter or split personality or bending space and time---just something that neatly fits in the realm of NCIS. Which was brilliant.

Yay! :-) I must admit, I wasn't sure how many people would go for this story, given the crossover show. It's kind of in a different genre! And not many people did go there with me, so thanks for giving me a chance here. :-)

Thanks! I did want to give Tony something subtle, something that he wouldn't realize was an unusual ability at first. Partly because I wanted to surprise him with Nathan's abilities, but mostly because I didn't want to force Tony out of NCIS, and if he had something really spectacular the universe would almost have demanded him not to stay doing that one job. Not that any of that would have gotten into the fic, but my brain likes to have a larger background to work from even if I don't actually write it. :-)
Hee! Alas, the muse (and my time constraints) controls what I write.
I'm glad I could make you happy! I don't think this fic appealed to too many people, because of the crossover, but those it did have been very happy, so yay! *g*
I totally understand the time and muse constrain, sigh...
But if you ever find yourself with enough time to play with Nathan again and you need inspiration for your muse I suggest you'd check out this post and scroll down to the picture posted by antares04a. Maybe it's just me and my not so little obsession with Nathan, but doesn't that picture remind him to you as well? *g*
Wow. That picture is hot, even if it isn't Nathan! *g* But it does remind me of him a bit, too. A little more bronzed, but one can always put that down to lighting. *g*
Nathan wants very much for me to write him, but the centaurs own my brain right now. I keep telling myself, just get TNYC 9 done and see what your schedule is like then...
