Summary: There's more than one type of 'mark'.
80%
He looked around at all the others, scribbling away intently, answering questions and praying for the best. They were crazy, all of them… except the ones that were a little bit stupid. They probably did all their studying last night too, instead of spacing it out, a bit at a time so details could be remembered and regurgitated.
Okay. So… with a 97% fluke on that quiz, partly cushioned by a 40% on the next one, and calculating in the relative weight of the marks… He skipped through the questions, noting the ones he could answer easily and accurately. That left ten questions in the grey zone and another three in the black, meaning he had to get six of the 'easy' questions wrong to make this work. Not too wrong though… he learned that lesson the hard way. How they could call throwing a test 'cheating', however, he had no clue. People cheated to get a better grade, not to lower themselves to an average one. What people didn't realise was that consistency took more talent. Besides, the Japanese adage was right: the nail that stood up would be pounded down. The best way not to get threatened was to not - in any way - be a threat. Quickly, he rechecked to make sure he had it calculated right. There was no room for error.
Tony picked up his pencil and went to work.
