Tutorial on submitting stories to livejournalozgeek_40July 11 2007, 05:34:43 UTC
Hi,
There was some interest on NFA (NCIS fanfiction addiction) in a tutorial on how to submit stories to these challenges. I used my Icon entry as an example and did a lot of screen capping to form an 'NCIS flashfiction for dummies' type thread on the NFA boards.
Now I wanted to ask if someone from here could give it the once over in case I have missed something - like the ratings system for example which I have only just remembered and will promptly add the moment I hit send here. I also want to make sure I haven't said the wrong thing anywhere.

Hey there!
Just wanted to let you know that I'll be able to look this over this afternoon sometime. You should hear from me with detailed feedback on the tutorial by the end of the day (Pacific Daylight Time).

Hi again!
Sorry for the delay. As you may have seen on my own LJ, my computer's power cord went up in literal flames, so I've been distracted with getting a new computer and getting everything set up.
But, as it turns out, it's okay, because that tutorial was awesome! I didn't noticed anything missing at all, and it was very clearly written. Of course, it's possible that there is something missing that I didn't think of because I do it so automatically, but I don't think so. You did a great job.
Thanks for helping to introduce some folks to LJ and this comm in as painless a manner as possible! :-)

Thanks for taking the time to read it. Sorry to hear about your computer. I didn't realised things like that could even happen.
I was a bit worried that the submission process was becoming too automatic for me too so I wanted to get it all down before I didn't have to think about it. I also wanted to stress the header and title line for achiving purposes.
I have had some feedback from the NFA site but none of it said 'I'll go and submit'. I might prompt them all next challenge. I also have a link to the challenge site and the tutorial on my fanficion.net profile page.
Funny thing was, people have sent comments on the actual story. I'd forgotton that part would even happen as it was written solely for the purpose of the tutorial. I think it's the shortest piece I have ever posted. Anyway, it's always nice to have feedback.

I'm not sure how to do links here so I'll just try and see how I go:

And the link worked just fine. :-)
