Fringe Festival ends tomorrow.

For those who don't know, it's an annual festival of new theatre, with participants determined by lottery. The whole campus at Loch Haven Park turns into a gathering of anyone in Orlando who gives half a shit about the theatre.

Unlike other years, I actually had the time and money to do it up right and see a bunch of shows this year. Still not as many as I would have liked, but hey, I really wanted to have a show premier at the damn thing. Maybe we'll get picked next year...

Anyway, I saw about seven shows over the course of the week, and spent plenty of time eating fair food (corndogs and booze) while bullshitting with old friends, new friends, and like-minded passersby. Got to support some of my pals who had shows going on, got to support some strangers who had really great things to bring to the stage, and I even got to support two really terrible shows. You never can tell what's going to suck and what's going to be gold.

An old crush of mine flew in for the festival too, and I was reminded of what a beautiful woman really looks like when I got to meet up with her.

The whole experience has me kind of in a manic-depressive state. One minute, I'm in a wishy-washy funk, moping about all the shit I haven't accomplished. The next, I'm all pumped and ready to create something that could live and breathe as a show next year. I'll keep you posted if the latter thing works itself out. And if the former prevails as it has for the last couple of years, well, I won't bore anyone with the details of that.
