My story of seeing Matt Bomer on Jimmy Kimmel

Feb 02, 2011 16:34

If you didn't know me, there is one thing you should know is that recently I've become an obsessed fan of the show White Collar, I have YET to miss an episode, that is MY show and I absolutly love Matt Bomer, who plays Neal Caffrey. I love all the cast members because they all have their moments and of course I've been a fan of Tiffani Thiessen since Saved by the Bell, so she will ALWAYS be Kelly Kapowski and if your a big fan of Saved by the Bell like I am/was, you may want to read my previous blog involving Mario Lopez/AC Slater...

Anyways, I started my first semester of college in Janurary, it was winter intersession so it isn't much of a semester but still it was my first technical semester of college, I've been nothing but worried and stressed about passing this class considering it IS a prerequisite class, that is if I spelt that correctly, and it is one that I need to pass to go on and it's only a month class so everything has been crunched into a month, yeah it probably wasn't the best decision on my part but it's definitly got me back into the swing of going to school again. Your probably wondering how this is relevent with White Collar, Matt Bomer, or Saved By the Bell? Or wondering what or who the hell all those things are? If you have to ask who or what they are, I have no idea why your reading...j/k...no seriously....j/k

One night I was studying for a vocab test, which will be funny later on in the story, my sister (Melissa, which I will stick to calling Mel because I can....) was looking at this website where she can get free tickets to certain talk shows for free to see if anyone was confirmed for her birthday next month (March 12th to be exact....) when she saw the one and only Matt Bomer (aw, my love) was going to be on Jimmy Kimmel on January 31st. I had class that night so Mel was eerie on if she should get the tickets, I told her to go ahead and get tickets. I looked at my class calendar to see that we didn't have any tests and/or nothing important going on and the worst thing would be that I would possibly lose 10 points, at that time I had an 90 some percent so I would be fine. Mel got two tickets, I went to class the next night and talked to my teacher telling him I wouldn't be there on the 31st, he didn't even ask where I was going to be or anything, so yeah....

We have been to Jimmy Kimmel two times before but it was for the concerts, never for the actual interview portions so we weren't sure what or how it was going to be especially with Mel being on crutches. I started to feel bad for ditching class for this, but I REALLY wanted to go, I've never seen Matt Bomer in person, they film White Collar in NY so I can't really try to stalk out their set or anything, like I do that (shifts eyes)...but I realized you know, I have worked SO hard this semester, I have an A in this class, I have passed ALL my tests (besides one but that wasn't ever counted in our grades, thank god!) and I have been stressed SO much that I needed to just take a little break, plus with Friday the luck could only get better. I talked to a fellow student to see if she can text me what they do in class.

Mel and I got up, showered and got ready, I was eerie on what to wear but I went with my black slacks, orange dressy shirt, and my black boots, I figured with my boots I would be the same height as Mel just in case they wouldn't let her take her crutches into the seating area, it'll be easier for her to lean on me than if I was the normal couple inches shorter than her. I did my hair nicely, I actually put curls in it, and did make up, which probably looked horrible. We left early because we had priority tickets AND it was first come first serve type line as well, we HAD to be there by 5:30 to get priority but we wanted to be there by at least 5. We left our house at 3, 3:30 getting to the place about 4 and we went STRAIGHT to Jimmy Kimmel and we were the FIRST ones in line, SCORE!

We stood in line when two people joined the non-ticket line (they had two lines, one for those that had tickets and one line for people that wanted to see the show but didn't get tickets so if they had room then they will start letting people without tickets in to fill rest of the seating area), I pulled out my vocab flash cards I made considering I had another vocab test the next day (how weird is it that I was studying for a vocab test when we got the tickets and then I had to study yet again in line for another vocab test?) Anyways, we started chatting to those two guys and another girl joined in line behind Mel and I who had a ticket, I was SO jealous because she HAD a White Collar shirt that she had gotten at Comic-Con (which I was majorly jealous because of that AND that teh cast of White Collar was at Comic-Con, that is where the famous Tim Dekay and Matt Bomer dancing to Tic Tok came from... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Je-xY7x42R4 its a must watch! My
favorit part is 2:12!) and she wore her fedora and I was debating on wearing mine and decided against it....

The one employee came up to us and said 'You do realize it's 4 o'clock right?' and I was like 'Yeah...' and he said 'We aren't going to start checking people in until 5, you can leave and come back at 5 if you want....' and I was like 'Okay...' 'Who are you here for?' 'Matt Bomer...' I said as the girl behind us nodded in agreement. He smiled and walked away as I turned to Mel and she was like 'I know, we aren't leaving...' 'If we leave we won't get our first in line spots back...' the guy in the non-ticket line said. 'Exactly...' The girl behind us said. We stood there in line patiently, talking and studying as much as I could without getting TOO distracted. The line started to slowly form on both sides, they went through the line checking us in and giving out wristbands to the people that had tickets.

I started to get nervous and excited, they opened the line to let us go up to the security, I went through the metal detector and let them search my purse, then Mel went through. We were the first ones in line so it felt like we weren't rushed, we went up to the ropes that led to the audience area. 'Would you like a chair to sit in?' The male employee that was at that line asked. 'No I'm good, thanks...' Mel said. 'You sure?' He asked. 'Yeah...' Mel said nodding. 'Do you want to take the elevator?' He asked. 'Nah, I can go down stairs but it may take a while...' Mel said as he nodded and the one employee that was working there when we came to Jimmy Kimmel last time to see Train was there, which was awesome because we got to know him the most last time and he knows we're cool and we're cool with him, it's always nice when you know the employees because you can get perks.

We stood there as the area started to fill up, people were getting in and out of line to go to the bathroom. They started to play the episode of Jimmy Kimmel where it was an episode dedicated to himself, which kept us entertained until the security guard came up and unhooked the rope. 'Everyone stop, the girl on crutches goes first....' He said letting Mel go, I went to go with her, 'Stop, just her...' 'She's with her...' The girl that was behind us in line said, 'Yeah, that is my sister, I'm with her...' 'Oh, go ahead...' he said letting to go down the few steps and walk/help Mel down rest of the steps, and we were seated on the aisle seats RIGHT next to the steps that led up to the stage, we were diagnol from Jimmy's mark when he does his monologue. Needless to say, I was pretty close. 'You guys were here for Train weren't you?' The employee from last time asked, since he was the one seating us. 'Yep...we're here again for Matt...' Mel said honestly, he just smiled and rolled his eyes.

We sat down and watched as they filled everyone else in, the girl that was second in line sat in the second row across from us, they broke our row in half, if they didn't break the row in half we would of been sitting next to each other. It seemed like they put us there because we waited the longest, the other people that were seated there were further back in line, it was very much popcorn type seating, people were seated randomly. We sat there when the employee that sat us stood in front of our section going over a few rules since we were in the front section and went to the other section. We decided to go hit the bathroom, I usully have to pee alot when I'm nervous, I know TMI and Mel is easily dehydrated, they made me throw away my water bottle so she went to go get a drink. When we went down the stairs there was this club/bar type thing and the bouncer dude look JUST like a skinny Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince of Bel Air, it was creepy but awesome.

We went back to our seats, we watch Jimmy's stand-up guy to get us prepared for Jimmy and he was pretty funny and that is when we realized we were WAY too close to that mark, it seemed like they were sitting on our lap from his mark....Jimmy came out to do his monologue and that is when I realized he looked like a real life wax figure, I couldn't help but to stare because I knew he was real but yet I wanted to touch him to make sure he was real because he looked SO much like a wax figure, even down to the sparkly eyes....yes, I notice those things....and he was so close, when he went to look at the monitor he would end up looking at Mel....

At one point between filming, Mel stretched out her foot and she didn't realize Jimmy was still there and she flung her leg back, 'Its okay...' he said as she extended her leg out to relief tension on her knee, 'What'd you do to your knee?' he asked, 'I tore the meniscus.' Mel responded, he simply nodded, but he didn't mind that her leg was extended which was cool. He was actually pretty funny, even though I'm more Team Coco than Jimmy Kimmel....the first guest was a chick from The Good Wife, I could of cared less, all I wanted was to see Matt Bomer and steal the sign that was on the monitor between our row and the other row that had Matt Bomer's name on it, we were seriously going to ask if we could have but they took it down before we could ask...after the girl's interview they showed a clip of him backstage and I almost flipped my lid, he looked as gorgeous as he did before, maybe even more gorgeous...

When they came back from break, that was when he announced Matt Bomer and out he comes from backstage, I screamed and clapped, after he did a manly hug with Jimmy Kimmel he looked out to the audience, I grabbed Mels hand squeezing tightly out of nervous reaction. It seemed like that the moment he broke that hug he just stared at Mel, the other girl and I like he KNEW where we were, it was odd.

He sat down in the chair next to Jimmy's desk and the crowd calmed down, he seemed SO shocked that he got SO many cheers, and the first thing Jimmy said was 'You know you got some real entusiastic fans out there?' Jimmy said, 'I know...' Matt said as him AND Jimmy gradually looked out to Mel, the other girl and I like someone had told Jimmy and Matt about us, I jumped for joy a tad and squealing inside but yet nervous so I squeezed Mel's hand tightly. I just watched him do his interview in 'aw' that I really was that close to him, I mean it's fucking Neal Caffrey....

During his interview he was talking about how he encourages pranks, which I'm like that is SO our family and then later in the interview he started talking about how he used to work on the gas line, he then started this story about a fart and he has SUCH manners because he was like 'Excuse me ladies...' which was like, the fact that he has manners when it comes to farts, I was like 'I love you more Matt Bomer!' I never realized he had an accent until this interview, but it's definitly cute, but continuing with this fart story, he was talking about whenever someone farted at work near the gas lines, his friend would say 'That sounded like it has been tampered with...' in this CUTE accent, which Mel and I haven't been able to stop reciting in our best Matt Bomer accent.

When he finished his interview, he went to stand up to leave and he looked in our direction, I freaked (by this time he turned away), I reached over grabbed Mel's hand mid-clap and squeezed crushing one of fingers and she yelled over the crowd 'Oh Shit! What the fuck is wrong with you?!?!' Which got Matt AND Jimmy to turn and look at us, we saw them staring we did our wacky smiles/grins like nothing happened which was obviously fake....Matt just laughed and walked away, I think if anything, that showed him who was the biggest fan and excited to be there.

It was then time to go out to the concert stage to see the musical guest, which we didn't really care about, I wanted to go out back and try to catch him leaving. We were the last ones out since it would take Mel longer to go up the steps, when we got to the top they put us in the VIP section instead of making Mel hobble around and be the last ones and after the concert, they let us go first out the door before they let the others go and stampede over Mel. We went to where he would come out seeing TMZ people already there along with other fans looking for Matt as well, the TMZ people said that they just got him leaving so we knew he would be on TMZ the next day which he was.....

Overall it was a good time, I'm happy that I finally got to see him in person, even though I didn't get to meet him, which it would of been nice, but I still had a blast that I got to see him, got stares and that I was able to get him to laugh. It just means that I have to see him again to meet him for real, maybe next time I won't be as nervous or scared....

As for studying, I studied a tad in line and studied when I got home, went to class the next night to realize that my teacher gave me full credit for the homework because he trusted me enough to know that I did my homework and took my two tests that was scheduled that night. Now, as I write this I realize I should get off and start getting ready for class since tonight is the start of our finals, we got two tonight and one tomorrow.....wish me luck and I'm sure you'll know how I did on my tests...I keep thinking of Mario Lopez smiling and/or winking at me AND Matt Bomer saying 'That sounds like it has been tampered with.....'

awesome and epic days, fangirling
