Well it's 2008 and what better way to bring in the New Year than by going to the historic event known as the Winter Classic outdoor hockey game between the Sabres and Pengiuns. The game regardless of the outcome was amazing. To be inside Ralph Wilson Stadium for a hockey game was surreal, and the snow was a perfect touch. Sure the NHL got there way, with their goldon boy Crosby scoring the winning goal for Pittsburgh, but besides that it was a game that i will never forget along with the rest of the 70,000 plus people there. Sure it would have been nice to win but who cares, it was fucking hockey outdoors in front of the biggest crowd ever for a hockey game. Besides being cold I had a lot of fun. I only wish this kind of thing would take place more often and in Buffalo. So it was a good start to 2008.
