Oh there's no use talking, the panic's on!

“Oh there’s no use talkin’, folks, the panic’s on.”

I know these people here don’t really view me as a leader, but I can’t stand to listen to their so-called “plan.” None of us have been in a situation such as this, but it is a state of emergency and there is really no point in discussing what needs to be done. We either live or we die. I’d much prefer the first choice over the second.
“Why are we discussing this as if we know what we’re doing?” I interrupted. Have any of you ever been in a situation like this whatsoever? It seems to me all of you are treating these people as if they are zombies, but this is not the case. Clearly, they’re sick from some unknown infection that for all we know we may have at this point.
“You’re being too passive about this situation right now.” Rudy replied. That attitude is what will get you killed and none of us want to die along with you.
“This has nothing to do with being passive and brushing this entire situation off my shoulders.” I replied. This is a matter of life and death. Those people outside this store are still people. They are not trying to harm whatsoever; they just want care from us because no one is helping them. They’re just trying to survive as we are too.
“They are sick!” Rudy shouted. I’m not putting myself or this quarantined area at risk of whatever it is those people have.
“My child is out there with them.” Heather cried. He’s only five and I can’t manage to attempt to find him because of your so-called threats against all of us with your pathetic little six shooter.
“It’s not that pathetic when I put it in your face is it?” Rudy asked. This goes for all of you: Make any attempt to leave this store and put my life at risk I’ll end yours instantly. Believe me when I say that I won’t feel the slightest bit of remorse for your death.
The room went silent. The cries and screams from outside echoed into the store and any moral or motivation that could have been in this room came to an end. Everyone here feels they are a hostage. This is not necessary, but I’m unsure as to what to do, considering our lives are more at risk in here than outside this store.
I walked over to the front door to look outside. People run up and down the streets in fear. The infected skin looks as if it has been burnt and you can see the flesh falling into pieces on the pavement. The streets are filled with blood and the town echoes with fear. I could see someone walking in the distance. They moved very slowly. Behind them infected people ran. There was not an acknowledgment to the person, not even the slightest. She just walked with her head down and did not bother to look up to see as to where she is going.
“Heather, come look at this…” I said. Heather came up to me and looked outside as I pointed in the direction of where I seen the woman.
“Do you see her?” I asked.
“I don’t see anything.” She replied. What am I suppose to be looking for.
“There was a woman walking in the middle of the road with her down.” I nervously stated. Infected people just ran by her like she wasn’t even there. None of them even stopped to ask her for assistance or anything…they just ran.
Heather continued to look around from the front door, but she saw nothing. I thought I was going crazy, but something did not seem right about this woman. From the time this virus, bacteria, or whatever started until now we’ve yet to see anyone calmly walk the streets. It’s finally come, the plague the world had coming.
“Hello…” A woman whispered demonically. I can see you, smell you, and you’re all clean. Free from infection.
“What the fuck was that?” Rudy asked.
The group was startled. The voice we heard was from not of this room and not of this world. There was nowhere the voice cold be pinpointed. The location was unknown.
“Who are you?”Rudy asked.
“I can be life and I can be death.” The voiced whispered. Which one would you like me to be?
“I’m not here to play games you stupid cunt!”Rudy shouted. Stop being a coward and show yourself to me!
“Rudy shut the fuck up!”I yelled. Don’t antagonize whatever the fuck it is!
“You listen to me; I’m tired of hearing your fucking mouth.”Rudy said. You really think you can do a better job leading this group to survival, then go ahead. Here’s my gun.
I stepped closer to Rudy and reached for the gun. We made eye contact, but his eyes were filled with distrust. I’m sure I’d be an idiot to even make an attempt to take it, but something must be done. As my hand came closer to his gun, Rudy reached back hit me with it. The barrel hit me across my nose and the pain dropped me to the floor. Rudy continuously kicked me on the ground shouting “Dumb! Fucking! Idiot!”
“Stop it! Stop right now!” Heather yelled.
“Get the fuck off of me you little whore!” Rudy screamed.
Rudy pushed Heather, knocking her to the floor. He continued to kick me while I was down. The lights began to flicker and Rudy immediately stopped. All the commotion outside of the store had stopped. We could hear nothing. The entire town was silenced.
“What’s going on?”I coughed and spurted blood.
The store began to shake and the products fell off of the rack. The lights continuously flickered faster and faster until the bulbs busted. We could feel a wind inside the building and a vortex began. Every one of us ran to grab a hold of something to hold on to, and then it happened.
As we held on tightly to ensure the vortex would not catch us in its whirl it immediately stopped. It lasted no longer than five minutes. The store’s products fell straight to the ground. All of us had looked around in distraught and in question. That’s when we heard a loud screeching sound and female screamed. Rudy was immediately lifted up into the air with his arms and legs spread. Something spun him around and threw him through the front door of the store.
“Oh shit, they’re coming in!” I yelled. We have to run, let’s go!
The infected ran in screaming and crying bloody murder. We are unsure as if they will harm us, but they look dead. None of us want that infection so we have to do what is best for us. I ran into the back of the store crossing between aisle and aisle. The infected would run at me and I dodged them as best as I could.
“Help us!” An infected man shouted. Come back here and help me!
It’s almost as if they are getting angry because we are trying to avoid making contact with them. They have a sense of mind, but that sense is slowly being lost because they are not getting the help they need. The man continued to chase me, so I ran into a restroom.
This was a dumb idea. I latched the stall door shut and stood on the toilet in hope that he wouldn’t notice me. I head the door open and he cried outloud.
“Where are you?” He coughed. You can’t leave me like this. I’m bleeding. I’m bleeding everywhere. I need some help.
I heard him turn on the restroom sink faucet. I peaked up to see what he was doing and he was rinsing the blood from his face. As he attempted to clean his face you could see him wiping the flesh from his face. He screamed and his anger grew even more once he realized he was incapable of cleaning himself up.
“I know you’re fucking in here!” He yelled. So come the fuck out and be a decent human being and take me to a fucking hospital.
I could hear him kicking in the first stall door. He moved on to the second and kicked that one in, then the third. I stood in the fourth stall waiting for him to kick it in and when he did I reach my leg up kicking him directly in the face.
He fell back and screamed “Ahhhh fucking help me!” I ran past him, but he reached out and grabbed my leg. I fell to the ground kicking and fighting to get away from him. When I turned my head to the entrance door that’s where the woman stood. Her hair was shiny black and she let her head hang down.
I fought and fought to get this infected man off of me, but the woman walked closer and closer. I wasn’t for sure what to do, because this person was sick. They did not know what they were doing, so I felt it difficult to defend myself. At the same time, I can’t possibly let this woman get near me. I reached into my pocket and grabbed my knife. The man continued to claw at my legs, but when he lifted his head up I slashed his throat with my knife.
The infected man choked on his own blood and finally let go. His eyes were red and slowly faded back to its original color of hazel. I stood up as quickly as I could and the woman stood between me and the door. It felt like an old western showdown. I had my pathetic knife against whatever she possibly could be.
She slowly raised her head. She brought her arms to her face, using her hands to part her hair, so I could finally see what she was. The light of the bathroom caused her pale skin to glow. Blood ran down from her mouth and she tilted her head to the side. The lights began to flicker again. They flickered faster and faster until the bulbs busted. The lights went out.
Everything was quiet again. I can hear myself breathing as I could hear her breathing in front of me as well. Within seconds I could feel her breath caressing my neck. I stood still and something forced my hand into dropping the knife. My own leg kicked the knife to the side and she began screeching loudly. I was stiffened. I couldn’t move. My heart beat faster and faster. My eyes became very painful and I felt thick tears pushing out from behind my eyes until my own eyes were flooded with a warm liquid. Everything went black and my body gave out.
