Thanks for reading! I haven't had time to sit down & read all of your fan fic, but I will. What little I did read was very interesting.
With my backstory - The direction I want to go is to make Megatron into sort of an anti-hero. He does what he does because he genuinely believes it is what's best for his people. Also, the militant, take-no-prisoners mentality is a direct result of his origins (its all he really knows).
Oh - fun fact: Do you know why they killed off all those characters in the 1986 movie? Well, it turns out that the molds that Takara was using for most of the 1st generation Transformers did not belong to them; they were licensed for a finite period of time. Some of those toy molds (such as the Decepticon jets) date back to the 1950's!
Anyway, since the Transformers toy line took off so successfully, Takara was being asked to shell out a lot more money to renew their licenses for those molds. Obviously, they opted to develop their own molds rather than pay. Hence, most of the Autobot cars, Decepticon Jets were killed off. Why make cartoons about characters whose toys you can't sell?
Interestingly, the Constructicons were among the only licensed molds that were renewed since Devestator was so hugely popular. This despite him being around in various forms since the early 70's. It's amazing what a slime green & purple paint job will do, huh? ;)
