Yet another reason to hate Wal-Mart

Here's the story. Woman brain damaged after accident. Is awarded $470K from the company who owns the truck that hit her. Wal-Mart sued her for it because they covered her medical expenses... and they won.

How can Americans hold them accountable? I see three ways, none of which would happen in a hojillion years.

You'd need not just one "screwball", but an entire government of "screwballs" elected to office to enact wholesale societal changes on par with Europe (say what you will about European politics as a whole....but this sort of thing wouldn't happen there). Point being....the Dems aren't far enough left to do anything about this. So accountability through the ballot box is right out.

So what does that leave? boycott the company's that do this? I don't think the entire country is prepared to lead an Ahmish lifestyle, because that's the level of boycott required, as there are ZERO company's with more than 100 employees that don't engage in this.

There's one other option: a unionization movement the likes of which this company has never seen. Strike until all the legal bullshit is taken out of the health plans. These strikes would have to be of ridiculous proportion and of an extremely lengthy nature. Which I doubt the hoi poloi has the stomach for.
