The insurance covers everything so there’s no real need to sell it Maggie explains #Her fingers drum absently on the kitchen table a half drunk mug of coffee clutched tight in one hand as she looks at them with bright eyes #The next few months pass quickly. Maggie accepts a promotion that means she works less hours. Elliot breaks up with his live-in girlfriend. #Miles’ apartment catches fire. Connor gets into a nasty car accident. And somehow everyone ends up at their house. #And it’s not so quiet anymore. #Miles & Maggie bicker about whether alcohol needs to be on the shopping list. Miles trailing after her as she walks room to room collecting #laundry. Forced to share his room Elliot decides Connor needs to improve his mind and starts leaving books on the beside table. #And each morning Charlie recovers the books from the floor as she takes Connor his breakfast. The two of them silently settling in for their #morning dose of cartoons. Danny finds Charlie crying in the study a few times. But for the most part she stays the same. #And it's weird but when he starts college the next fall he finds himself forgetting to be sad. #Because Elliot's eaten all the poptarts that morning. Or Connor's managed to hobble to the bathroom for the longest bubble bath in history. #Or Charlie's leaning across the back of the couch telling Miles dirty jokes until he cracks a smile. Or Maggie's singing christmas carols #quietly as she bakes. But on the anniversary of the accident it hits him all over again. Luckily it's Charlie who finds him. Wrapping his fi #ngers tight in hers as she speaks firmly. 'We're going to be okay Danny. Mom and dad would want us to be okay.' #(It's so weird seeing them in other things. You don't even know. I was going to make this fluffy and then it got very bittersweet on me)
