Revolution as Hamlet?

I was twiddling around with the idea of a wallpaper the other day (I start with an idea and end up somewhere completely different, tailored to my capabilities). What started as - 'wonder if I can make this look like old paper print' ended up as this:

*gasp* This is amazing. You hit the Revolution/Shakespeare sweet spot I didn't know I had.

Revolution is so potentially Shakespearean - the characters are ripe for those kinds of archetypes. I especially like Bass as Ophelia. That over-romanticized kind of madness is perfect for him. (The Pre-Raphaelites would have had a field day with Bass' tragic face. Kind of makes me think of Delaroche's The Young Martyr too in a twisted sort of way. The eerie quiet and Bass as both victim and enforcer, with the shadowy figure in the background? It's very metaphorical, of course, but you could really place both Bass and Charlie into both roles in the painting - they have so much in common.) The whole idea of Bass and Charlie's relationship in that light is exciting too - this exchange is so perfect, with Bass having lost his power and Charlie having found hers:

HAMLET: I did love thee once.

OPHELIA: Indeed, my lord, you made me believe so.

HAMLET: You should not have believed me; for virtue cannot so inoculate our old shock but we shall relish of it: I loved you not.

OPHELIA: I was the more deceived.

EDIT: Also, now I really want them to run across a traveling show doing Shakespeare, a la Huck Finn.

Oh, that would be so cool! (The travelling Shakespeare troupe) I would love to see something like that. I am glad you enjoyed my flight of Shakespearen whimsy :)
