Is anyone else seeing:

Charlie the Vampire Slayer with Miles her Watcher, Bass (Miles former BFF) a Watcher who lost his Slayer and got addicted to magic and basically f**ked up royally, Neville as the demon/otherworld-y thing that's the main big bad, Rachel as a Witch, and Aaron and Jason as the human sidekicks to Charlie (/general pains in Miles' ass).

No. Just me?

OK then.

I'm totally down with the extended comparison. But Miles is the Watcher who left the Council after becoming disillusioned by the patriarchal view that Slayers are merely tools in the fight against non-humans and should be used as such. Bass stuck with the Council and doesn't understand *why* Miles let one puny little Slayer sway him.

Jason is the mysterious semi-helpful stranger who turns out to have a deep familial connection to the season's big bad (ala Angel).

Rachel is like Willow with the smarts and her "resolve-face" hiding deep insecurities, but she is also like Tara who was mind-raped by someone she loved, and still loves. And like Joyce (Bandcandy squees).

Aaron is totally butt-monkey Xander. And Danny is Jessie. But is Nora more Anya or Cordy?

I was with you until I got to: "Jason is the mysterious semi-helpful stranger who turns out to have a deep familial connection to the season's big bad (ala Angel)."

Helpful?

Jason?

...

*laughs*

OOOH maybe he's more like Dawn. Except he's not related to anyone awesome. He's created (for some epic, ridiculous, dangerous reason -- as a key to something, Jason the tool I can get behind) to be Charlie's best friend so that she'll look after him (ala Buffy-Dawn)...and slowly Charlie realises Jason's not real. Or at least not who he thinks he is, and he gets to have a crisis of identity because (Jason really needs a proper one coz) he's half in love with her and how can a thing, how can energy, be half in love with anyone? So she's wrong; Miles' books are wrong....etc

YES YES on the Rachel stuff tho. And maybe she lost custody of the kids to Ben, and eventually Ben married Maggie - who's part adult!Cordy, part Tara. But more a natural healer than a witch with a full range of abilities.

And oh, but I liked Xander...cough I mean, I ( ... )

"Helpful? Jason?" He killed a couple of people who were gonna kill Charlie, which is more than Angel did (except for killing Darla...) he mostly just spouted cryptic info and disappeared.

LOL loving the idea of Jason as Dawn "Jason the tool", but really Danny fits better... A "thing" that Charlie needs to always look after, that a blonde Big Bad wants in order to return things to "normal" and throw the world into chaos... And Bass being Glorificius-like fits too half Ben/half Glory! Fits his ill-defined goals of "world-domination."

I wasn't a fan of Xander. He's kinda a giant misogynistic dick more than half of the time (just look at how he questions Buffy, treats Anya, the reasons he plays with magic is to get Cordy back and then dump her).

I see Maggie as more of a Jenny Calendar, dies early so that the show-runner can show he means business...

Aaron/Miles LOLZ!

Julia is TOTALLY Dru! Actually Julia is Darla, second fiddle to the Big Bad (Neville) supporting him, whispering poisoned words... Jeremy isn't cool enough to be Spike ( ... )
