Charlie, Aaron | One of three people who know her birthday, he's the only one who remembers it. | PG

She's not sad, not really. She expected it, to be completely honest. It's not like they have time to sit down and bake her a cake or something. Not when Danny's out there, not when Miles is busy driving them crazy, and especially not when Monroe is killing people left and right. So logically speaking, she understands that it's only natural. Logically speaking, she shouldn't be so upset.

But damn it! It makes her blood boil!

Maggie doesn't even pause in the morning to just whisper two simple words. Nora... Well, of course Nora's off the hook. They've known each other for the total span of what? Few days? Miles, on the other hand, is her blood relative. Even if they didn't really know each other that well, shouldn't he at least have known this or have enough interest in her to ask about it? Then there's Aaron with his loud complaints about not wanting to help out the next whatever cause that Charlie feels like she must be involved in...

And it's not even like she's asking for anything big! She just...

For once, it would be nice to be remembered.

For once, it would be nice for someone to care about her the way she cared about Danny.

Gods, she misses Danny. At the very least, her baby brother would have made a big fuss about her birthday. He might have even attempted to pick flowers just so that he could make her a flower crown, like he did every year. And despite the fact that some of the other kids (and adults) made fun of Danny for being so weird, he would do it anyways and give Charlie the biggest grin and say the two words that Charlie wishes that someone would remember to say.

Danny knows how to spoil her rotten. Danny knows exactly what to say and do.

Danny's currently on his way to Philly for whatever reason it is that Monroe wants him for.

They don't have any time for her to feel sorry for herself. They don't have any reason to slow down because she's this close to throwing a tantrum. Because let's be honest, she's not that kid anymore. She doesn't get angry about little things. She's not supposed to. Not when Danny's not here to make things better.

"Hey Charlie, slow down!" Aaron shouts.

But Charlie's done listening. They have nothing important to say to her. They all have to care more about little Danny, because do you know what the Militia might be doing to her little brother? But then Aaron's big hand clutch at her shoulder, and all Charlie really wants to do is yell at him to let her be.

She doesn't, though. That just would be rude. She just turns calmly and faces Aaron.

"I know this isn't much," Aaron begins in that sincere way that he always does. He holds up random flowers that he must have been picking secretly on their trek. "But I know Danny always did this for you. Happy birthday, Charlie."

And oh.

Oh, that's all she really wanted to hear. Oh, that's all she really needed right now.

She hugs him tightly and thanks him from the bottom of her heart.

*

"I wanted to make the flower crown like Danny always did, but it turned out to be a little hard. So I just picked the flowers. I hope you don't mind."

"I don't mind at all, Aaron."

Besides, that's Danny's present. When they get Danny back, he'll be the one to make the flower crown, not Aaron. Not anyone else.

Charlie thinks that she can live with that.
