100 words? But if we are incapable of that, a fairly self contained first part of 100 word or so will do? Hmmm. Might have to test it out to see how that works :D

You can get your 100 anyway you want.

You can give us the beginning of something...OR you can post the pared down, scaled back, budgeted for space version for the table and then underneath link to the better version that you adore because you got to include all your awesome dialogue AND action AND character development.

It's actually really interesting to try and do it - so you totally should. Writing that little example above took me ages, because I kept moving reasons, moving sentences, adding sentences, taking descriptions out, putting them in, running over the limit, backing off, and then finally in the end it turned out better than it started. RIDICULOUSLY SHORT, but okay.

btw, I missed there was an actual ficlet under those readmore ellipsis ... don't be hiding your light under a bushel like that! It was gorgeous :D

Inked | Miles, Bass, Charlie, | Tattoo | R | incest

She asked Monroe, once. “So if it means Monroe and Matheson, why doesn’t Miles have one?”

“Commitment issues,” he’d snarled, and “leave it the fuck alone.”

She does, because scars can’t hide a suppurating wound, but she never forgets. Especially when she discovers that for old warlords? War heals.

After DC, she disappears for the morning, then comes home smug. Later, Miles is kissing his way down her spine when he encounters the tattoo. He yells for Bass.

“Why?”

“Better than a ring, isn’t it? You’re both expected tomorrow at ten.”

(This time? Monroe inks his commitment over his heart.)

Wow, you conveyed so much in so few words, both story-wise and emotions-wise . <3

I loooove this. And I love that you dived in first.

I was hoping it wouldn't have to be me, but I was willing to take the bullet to get us rolling if must be.

So THANK YOU :D

I love Bass' reason for Miles not having the tat. Too true.

A Blast from the Past | Rachel, Bass (or Rachel/Bass) | Shaving | G

She is making sandwiches - the most anyone trusts her with where cooking is concerned - when President Monroe - sans the uniform - walks into the kitchen.

He doesn’t pretend to not notice her staring at him as if he were a ghost, running his hand over his now clean-shaven face: “Yeah… thought now that I’m not hunted anymore, this hell of a summer will be less insufferable without it.”

Rachel turns away with a scoff of contempt - her standard reaction to anything Bass-related these days, hiding the longing for the time when they were friends - and more - that suddenly crushes her heart.

OMG Hith. Perfection.

I can just picture Rachel's face, like she'd forgotten who he was for a while there, and maybe she grips the knife in her hand a little tighter wondering if anything's really changed. If she's changed. But I also love that she misses him. And he's right there, but he isn't. You know? Bittersweet, but heavy on the bitter.

Rachel cooking ♥

So, 2 down 48 to go. We can do this \o/

(Three-sentence fic, huh? Maybe even I can do some of that. Good to have more in this storyline!)

In The Heart | Grace | Messenger | PG | none

Some still called the drylands Texas, but through the heat and the dizziness Grace couldn't estimate how many more flags would rise and fall there before lights other than the scorching sun would join the well-known stars at night. The memories that dogged her were just that, not the illusions of the nano (she assumed), but she wondered how old Charlie would be now, whether she'd grown to resemble the woman Grace was desperate to find.

Even that girl from years before had had family to search for, the first time she'd dropped by, but Grace had no one left except perhaps news to shake the world.

On the mend | Miles, Bass, Charlie, | Holes | G | Charlie is shrugging into her jacket while she runs her mental checklist - crossbow, bolts, guns at her waist, knife at her thigh, knife in her boot - when she hears the rip. She blinks, then pulls ( ... )
