YEAH, THIS SOUTHERN COLD SNAP IS JUST RIDICULOUS !
The temp of course isn't really bothering me, but these people here just don't know what to do when it gets cold....apparently the houses arn't built for it. Yesterday the bathroom trailer at the store was froze....so I drove home on my breaks to use my own bathroom. (Bathroom trailer because all the sewage links arn't hooked up yet for the store)
Today it was 17 when Dave had to leave to go on shift....
The next door neighbor came over around 10:30 or 11AM when she came to get her mail....I think I posted about her house. Christmas week we came back from shopping one day to find water pouring out of her outside wall. A pipe had broke under her sink & flooded her kitchen, dining room & living room. Insurance sent restoration services & she's been staying with her boyfriend. She told me this am she's ordered carpet, but is trying to get a better price on installation.
Well, after lunch Matt, Meri & I went to the store.....we get back & pull in the driveway. There's once again water pouring out of Val's house. This time it looks like it's coming from high up the wall....only her house is 1 story, so it's gotta be from her water heater which is above her kitchen. I tried her cell #, but it went straight to voice mail. So, I called Dave at the station.....he said dial 911 & ask them to dispatch the rescue unit from the station closest to us so they can get the water shut off. Well, after dispatch trying to connect me with the water authority, we finally get the rescue truck. They got the main turned off , then pulled the electric meter & put in an emergency call to the power authority to get service pulled so nothing shorts & catches fire. Apparently the water is pouring thru the ceiling & into the 1st floor. When rescue go there it was even pouring out the front door. + it's freezing all down her driveway. As far as I know noone has gotten intouch with her yet....I'm thinking her cell phone is shut off. Now all the power & heat is off to the house....I'm afrid by the time we locate her there's going to be a really horrible mess over there.
