We all die.
The goal isn't to live forever,
the goal is to create something that will.
...
it didn't stop at just the iconic kite.
these are undoubtedly creative and bold,
i even ranked my top five personal favourites,
i especially love how StinsonAWESOME the above was
and i definitely would love to have this in my bedroom:
with numero uno being the one below,
but...
freedom of speech and vandalism are
two VERY DIFFERENT things.
watched the documentary last night
and I was impressed by the obvious abundance of talent,
i do admit that I'm a fan of such splendid spunk, after all
"the greatest crimes in the world are not committed
by people breaking the rules.
it's people who follow orders that drop bombs and massacre villages."
"imagine a city where graffiti wasn't illegal,
a city where everybody draw whatever they liked.
where every street was awash with a million colours and little phrases.
where standing at a bus stop was never boring.
a city that felt like a party where everyone was invited,
not just the estate agents and barons of big business.
imagine a city like that and stop leaning against the wall,
it's wet."
- Banksy
i mean seriously good god mother of geese,
sure it sounds great to not be bored waiting for the public transports anymore,
i'm positively sure everyone is guilty of reading mindless doodles
while being in the cubicle of public restrooms
but do you realize what you've done to the minds of individuals
who THINK they are creative and talented
and all they need is a wall to express themselves?
no denying your works are thought-provoking,
but now youths perceive it gutsy to mysteriously vandalize in the middle of the night
literally painting the town red
aren't you glad you don't live in Singapore.
you try doing all these in the middle of the night
with CCTVs strategically placed well, EVERYWHERE
you'll be famous overnight. no. two hours post-vandal tops.
the rebel in you, sexy.
the influence you'll spread to Singaporeans, turn off.
now i have that awkward moment
where I see someone who paints after being inspired by Banksy
and claimed they're liberated with the serenity and freedom to self-express
I'm like GOD GET REAL ALL YOUR LIFE
YOU'VE NEVER GODDAMN EXPRESS YOURSELF?! PLUS YOU CAN'T PAY THE GODDAMN TAXES
THE GODDAMN HOUSE THE GODDAMN DAILY EXPENSES
WITH THE PAINTED CANVASES YOU CALL ART
and they don't even look impressive to begin with.
get inspired, not delusional people.
just saying.
